    This is not my ancestor I am trying to find information on - it is the grave next to my mum, dad, & brother.
    For years I've attended the grave of my family and always seem to be drawn to this grave of this gentleman who has never had any flowers on it at all. My mum and dad passed away in 1975/76 so it's a very long time.
    I have decided to "adopt" this gentleman and put flowers down for him each time I go the the cemetery so...
    Can anyone tell me how I would go about finding any info about him if at all possible please.

    L. Barker - Air Gunner - (1100376) Sergeant- Royal Air Force - died 10th Oct 1943 aged 28yrs.
    Buried at Agecroft Cemetry Salford Lancashire. Grave stone is the white military stone you normally see and the RAF symbol with the ( Eagle) I think it is at the top.

    Can anyone give me any ideas how to go about this please.

    Wendy x x

    According to CWGC his name was Leonard and his parents were George and Jessie Elizabeth Barker of Salford and his wife was named May Barker of Salford.

    What a lovely thought. As he is buried in the UK, he should have a "normal" Death Certificate, a bit more informative than a "Service" one. The Certificate should give cause of death and other details.

    As an aside, one of the newspaper reports says that he died on active service. 'Died on active service' means the person died as a result of non operational circumstances - as a result of illness or accident etc. The above definition covers one of my uncles (also RAF) who died as the result of a road traffic accident.

    Ooh thank you for looking that up for me. I've not been on the forum for the last week or so with work and other things so I've not had chance to search up anything but hopefully I will this weekend. {-(^^)-}

    I never knew that - I thought it meant he died actually fighting.
    Thank you so much. {-(^^)-}
