Crumpsall Workhouse (Manchester) 1901 Census: RG13/3771/153/33, has the following two Inmates:

Thomas Clark, Inmate, Marr, 64 Yrs, Fish Hawker, born: America, Newport (NBS).

Guisseppe Sabatina, Inmate, Widr, 66yrs, Soapmaker, worker, born: Italy (NBS).

Not entirely sure of the abbreviations: NBS, but think maybe 'Naturalized Born Subject'.

According to a number of websites, it stands for Naturalised British Subject. :)
