Can someone advise how I can add a signature to my profile to save me having to type it every time? Many thanks, Malcolm Webb Lincoln UK
Hello Malcolm, The signatures have to be earned and are usually recommended to Doug and me by the Moderators - or anyone else can nominate a member for one. They are usually based upon helpfulness/contributions to the forum in some way. Once the upgrade wrinkles have been ironed out, we are hoping to review who is not the owner of a signature and perhaps award some in the new year.
Malcolm, in meantime you could save your sig. to a notepad or similar & copy/paste to your posts as they are now.
Thanks Wendy. Yes, I was asking about the signature box at the bottom where Wendy has "Wendy" and "Forget them not as they live again through us" There is no way in profiles (well, in my profile anyway) to add a custom signature to the bottom of my posts. How have others done it? Many thanks, Malcolm Webb Lincoln UK
Hi Malcolm. Expanding on the response from Jan at Post number 2 we make an adjustment to the members profile to allow the signature option.
Malcolm, if you "click" on your own name (in this topic, for example) it will bring up a box with all the different "areas" concerning you. On the left hand side there's a link "signature". That's where I added mine. It allows you to use one of several fonts and colours and also bold, italic etc. Hope this helps?
Same place I think Philippa. The ability to have a signature was awarded to all those who were members before we went "live" as a reward for putting up with all the mucking around when we were testing the forum. We alerted a number of people to the fact we were setting Top Dog up and asked if they were interested in becoming members. Having these members making posts assisted greatly in bedding down the forum. As far as I recall no members since that time have had their profiles updated to allow a signature to be posted. As Jan said, we will have a review early in the new year.
As has been said no way 'hosay' until they who decree, decree. My way was just a time saver to writing your usual sign off. See you in the new year?
Thanks, Doug. If the worst we ever had to go through in life was as "bad" as putting up with the experimentation of TD before going live, then I think the world would be a much happier place!!!!
Hi Philippa, It appears you must be one of the chosen few -- no signature option in my profile I'll just keep signing off in the usual way. All the best, Malcolm Webb Lincoln UK
Thanks for the explanation Doug. Much appreciated. I thought I just couldn't find the link. No problem with the status quo. All the best, Malcolm webb Lincoln UK
New signature attached as per Wendy's advice in post #6 Many thanks . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Malcolm Webb Lincoln UK To all those who made this history we have a duty not to forget
I think the penny has finally dropped with me, using Phillippa's motto above as an example I thought this was the "signature" but now I realise it's not, only the name e.g. Phillippa is the signature. Is there a way to make the "motto" appear in each post automatically? I've read Wendy's advice in post #6 but the only way I know of copying to a notepad is the copy and paste method which of course is not the answer for an automatic appearance in posts. Any advice please in step by step simple terms because it will most likely be something I'm not conversant with.
It is part of the signature facility, Findem, and so will not happen unless you are awarded the signature option.
