I've been meaning to apply for my father's army records for a while.

Does anyone know what format they use to send them? Do they arrive via email or post? I understand they can take a good while to come through.

I believe that they arrive by post. Have a look at the Gov.uk website here to see details of how to apply.

    Good luck! :D

(Note to self: extract the digit and apply for your Grandad's records, Jan...)

Thanks Jan. I've been trawling through it all morning, and must've missed the relevant bit.

The application is filled in, duly signed and ready to post. Fingers crossed.

I got my Dad's some years ago - they came by post quite quickly. When I sent for my father in law's papers, they took quite a while, but arrived with his pay book which had been kept with them. I had a lovely letter with the documents saying that they considered the pay book would be in the 'proper' hands if returned to the family, rather than languishing with the records.

This has prompted me to send for my Father's RAF WW2 service records. Has anyone experience of RAF records and help they can share? Thank you.
