I have details of my 5X great grandparents but in going further backwards, I needed to make contact with the OPC to confirm information from Family search.

Sadly, my email to the indicated OPC was returned as undeliverable.

Now I cannot get a new email addie for him.

    Is anyone willing to assist?

    Colin

Did you get the details from the Warwickshire OPC website, Colin? I see that it is split into Parishes and there are different OPCs depending upon the Parish.

Have you tried contacting one of the others to see if they can help at all?

Yes, Jan, I also contacted the Wbsite Maintainer to see if he had any updated info on this particular person and have had no response so far.

That is why I posted, in the hope that a forum member may be close to the 2 parishes of interest - Churchover and Church Lawford.

I think that you had better post some details, Colin, like names, dates etc. :)

    OK - here goes:
John WRIGHT was baptised in Kingsbury 29 May 1704 and was the son of Thomas and Mary Wright.

I believe his wife was May Simmons also probably from Kingsbury as that was where they were married 24 October 1725.

According to the website above - see post #2 - Kingsbury does not have an OPC at present

    Not a problem.

The parish registers on Ancestry have her marriage in 1725, but nothing that fits to a baptism, so I wonder if she wasn't from Kingsbury originally.

Given the date of John's baptism [29 May 1704], the only death and burial that I've found was for a John Wright, buried in Coleshill, Warwickshire [22 June 1773] and was aged 71.

I think the Warwickshire OPC enterprise may have stalled somewhat. Looking at the website, it seems to have been last updated in 2008 and shows "In October 2007 88 parishes now have an OPC".

Looking on Rootschat, I found the following which was posted more than 3 years ago, "You might like to write to Carol - carole.haines92[at]virgin.net - who is secretary of the Kingsbury History Society - she is a fund of knowledge and helped me recently."

Something for you to follow up?

Definitely, Ken since the website maintainer hasn't responded either. Hope the email addie is still viable.

Hi Colin - a quick google for Kingsbury History Society shows a new email address of carole.haines92(at)btinternet.com - might be worth a try?

Am currently awaiting a response from Carole. I think I may have tried the old email address that Ken R suggested in 2013, but cannot find a response so may be this attempt will pan out.

Colin, if this burial does prove to be the correct one for you, give me a yell and I'll nip over to Coleshill (not exactly a million miles away) and have a mooch around the churchyard. Remind me not to forget my camera, JIC. :)

There appears to be an OPC for Coleshill so will send an email to see if they can confirm this burial

Have heard from the OPC for Coleshill - but - she leaves tomorrow for vacation until 1st week September. Have also heard from Carole Haines - see post #14. Not much help based upon 1st contact so sent more detail - will see what happens.

Have noted a few things - see below:
1] A John Wright baptised Kingsbury 29 May 1704 - son of Thomas and Mary married Mary Simmons 24 October 1725.
2] John and Mary baptised 4 children between October 1726 and November 1736 - all baptisms in Churchover with the last child being Frances.
3] I have discovered a death and burial for a Mary Wright in Kingsbury on 27 March 1761.I do not know if this was the mother or a sister of Frances who was baptised October 1726.
5] A John Wright was buried in Coleshill 22 June 1773
4] Frances Wright baptised November 1736 in Churchover.
5] Frances Wright married John Rowlidge[sic] 19 November 1758 in Churchover.
6] John and Frances baptised 5 children - 2 in Churchover in May 1759 [twins] and 3 in Church Lawford between October 1762 and April 1770.
7] I have been unable to find a baptism or a burial for John Rowlidge[sic].
8] Frances Rowledge was buried in Church Lawford 28 November 1814.

    Distances between:
Kingsbury to Coleshill is 4 miles
Kingsbury to Churchover is 20 miles
Coleshill to Churchover is 24 miles
Churchover to Church Lawford is 8 miles.

I am hoping to prove this is my family.

It has been suggested that I look for a will of the father John Wright who was buried in Coleshill 22 June 1763.

I have a possible baptism for John Wright son of Thomas and Mary who was baptised 29 May 1704 in Kingsbury.

There is a marriage between John Wright and Mary Simmons on 24 October 1725 in Kingsbury. I have found a baptism for a Mary Symmons dau. of Thomas and Elizabeth on 5 October 1701 in Mancetter. On the image of the register it would appear the surname is Symmons. I cannot find anything else that looks likely and Mancetter is [in a straight line] 7 miles from Kingsbury .

A john and Mary Wright baptised the following children:
    Mary - 2 October 1726
    John - 4 December 1732
    Esther - 22 September 1734
    Frances - 7 November 1736
    all in Churchover

It is possible that the Mary baptised in 1726 married George Piercy on 7 August 1748 in Mancetter. There appear to be several baptisms of children for this couple:
    Nathaniel - 24 May 1753 - Kingsbury
    George - 22 May 1756 - Kingsbury
    Joseph - 10 March 1759 - Kingsbury
    Henry - 18 June 1763 - Kingsbury
    Nathaniel - 28 September 1766 - Kingsbury
    Richard - 5 November 1770 - Kingsbury.

There is also a Jane baptised in Bulkington 1768 [exact date unknown] that could also be theirs as Bulkington is about 11 miles from Kingsbury.

It was also suggested that the Warwickshire County Records Office may have some information about this family. Has anyone had dealings with them?

Following on from the above, there has been no further responses from the good folks mentioned - see post #17 - in spite of follow ups.

As for the dsate of burial of John Wright - post #18 - a correction date of burial 22 June 1773.

The burial of John Wright - Coleshill
The burial of Mary Wright - Kingsbury.

From Wikipedia - Coleshill is 11 miles east of Birmingham and Kingsbury is between Tamworth and Birmingham - so I think I have the correct couple.

As for the baptism of Mary Wright - maiden name Simmons or Symmons - I have nothing other than what I mentioned in post #18. I therefore think that I must accept this as the proof I need.
