Looking for information on Thomas Lewis, last known address in 1939, 3 Teifi Terrace, date of birth 13th Dec 1866, I applied too the gro for this certificate, only too find out there was non for that year, only 1865, which I have looked into and it,s the wrong person, some old paperwork a relative has says his fathers name was Richard or Robert, Thomas Lewis was the town crier in Lampeter early 1900,s, could do with some help with this one, as I don,t want too purchase anymore wrong certificates

Hmmm... that's odd as there is a birth registration for a Thomas Lewis in Lampeter Registration District, December quarter of 1866, volume 11b, page 37 being the reference.

Further to Jan & MollyMay's post. The mothers maiden name was Oliver.

There is a marriage for a Thomas Lewis to a Mary Oliver 18 July 1862 Lampeter, Cardiganshire, Wales

PS to add, the original entry in the marriage register is on FMP.

Is it possible you were told wrong date of birth? perhaps given the Baptismal date instead?

Or maybe the person registering the birth gave wrong date- happens. Is the Mother's name correct?

Are you taking the 13th December as the birth date from the 1939 register? or do you have other proof that is the correct date?
    Sorry more questions;)

I helped a lady in Canada who was searching for the birth of her grandmother. Her gran had always celebrated her birthday on 15th August. Even her death cert said date of birth was 15th August. Finally found her certificate. Correct parents, correct mothers maiden name. Turned out she was born on 15th September.

Yes first child was Annie born 1895, i hav,nt got the dates on hand, but there was David Thomas, evan and Daniel John, evan died, got their date of births from school admissions, Thomas does not appear in any of the census,s, 1939 has him as a retired able bodied seaman, probably that is why he is not in any

Strange that they do not have the marriage cert there, Try the GRO (General Records Office).

    https://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/default.asp

    Marriages Jun 1895
    Davies Ellen Merthyr T. 11a 894
    Davies Sarah Merthyr T. 11a 894
    James John Merthyr T. 11a 894
    Lewis Thomas Merthyr T. 11a 894

Only trouble is I don't know who married who out of these 4.

Yes well that would be correct. Over here the marriages are put into the register in the church. They are sent to the records office every quarter.

March - would be for marriages between Jan 1st - 31st March
June - would be for marriages 1st April - 30th June
Sept - would be for marriages 1st July - 30 September
Dec - would be for marriages 1st October - 31st December.

They being married on 1st April would come under June marriages.
