These 3 have been 'bugging' me off and on for years - and I'm not sure that I have posted in the correct forum - so here goes.

There is a very likely scenario where the eldest Jeremiah is my 4Xgt. grandfather. He appears likely to have married Jane Owen on 4 May 1799 in Llandinam, Montgomeryshire.
I have not found any satisfactory baptism records on Ancestry for children of this marriage but I am aware of possibly 2 children - Jeremiah [born abt. 1806] and Ann [she was the wife of John Evans].

The Jeremiah born c. 1806 could have married 16 June 1826 in Llanbister, Radnorshire to Mary Rees. Jeremiah was of Llandinam, Montogomeryshire. There is a Jeremiah [an Ag. Lab.] in 1841 census with wife Mary and 6 children - H0107/1455/10/20/9. The youngest child was named Jacob and was aged 5 months in 1841. The other schildren were Jane [c.1828], Jeremiah [c.1830], Ann [c.1833] and Elizabeth and Sarah [twins? c. 1835]. I cannot find this family after 1841.

Ancestry has just tossed into the mix the following:
1] Jan.-Mar. q. 1854 in Newton [inferred Co. Montgomeryshire] a death of Jeremiah Whilding [no age].
I cannot find an 1851 census for this chap.

2] Jan.-Mar. q. 1840 in Newton[inferred Co. Montgomeryshire] there a 6 names associated with a marriage - 3 men and 3 women. One of the men was a Jeremiah Whilding. The 3 ladies were Jane Brees, Rebecca Davies and Winifred Lloyd.

Can we ask for help in unraveling this mess?

and his mother's maiden name was REES so your conclusion about Jeremiah marrying Mary REES is correct. ;)

Oh yes - there is an H in the surname, so WHILDING. :)

I don't know if you have already seen this, Colin, but Anne's marriage to John EVANS took place at St Harmon, Radnorshire, and is available to view on FMP so cannot give you full details but one of the witnesses is a Jeremiah WHILDING. But like you I cannot find the baptisms of either Jeremiah jnr or Ann(e), the latter stating, if I have the correct Anne EVANS, that she was born c1806 at Nantmel, Radnorshire, in census records. Nor can I find a burial record for Jane W(H)ILDING nee OWEN between 1799 & 1840. I wonder if they were a non-conformist family.

Sorry, not much help at all!

    Janet

Just noticed your previous post re John & Ann's daughter, so you do already have the above info - so ignore!

Have checked and whilst the ages of both Jeremiah and Mary are out by several years, I am satisfied that these are my couple. I will post details of the family that they had in the U.S. after arrival c. 1842/1843 if there is interest.

In the interim can their arrival/departure details be found - I'm having a problem with this aspect.

Yes, it would be good to share the info.
I don't know whether the 1850 US Census is available online, but I should
have it on CDs and will check it

As I said earlier then there were 3 Jeremiah's but still digging.

The 1st Jeremiah looks to have been born c. 1771 in Llandinam, Montgomeryshire and appears to have married a Jane Owen in Llandinam 4 May 1799. Have found 2 children - Jeremiah c. 1806 and Ann c. 1811.
Ann looks likely to have married a John Evans in St. Harmon on 3 Apr. 1833 and had 7 children - Ann c. 1833, Jane c. 1837, Elizabeth c. 1840, Mary c. 1844, John c.1848, Thomas c. 1853 and Sarah c. 1853. I have resolved most of my issues with 5 of these children but have some unresolved matters with Ann and Elizabeth.

Jeremiah and Jane lived in Tyback in 1851 census - H0107/2496/428/22 - transcribed as WYLDYN [matches schedule] and he was a Pauper formerly farmer. His age was rounded to 82 and her age was rounded to 76.
I think that I have found the death of Jeremiah in 1st q. 1854 in the R.D. of Newton, Montgomeryshire vol. 11b page 149.

I believe that the Jane in the 1851 census was not the Jane Owen that he married in 1799 but was in fact Jane Brees [a widow whose maiden name was Blayney]. A Jane Brees married a Jeremiah Wilding 31 Jan. 1840 in Newton, Montgomeryshire and both were widowed. Have not found a death of either spouse - Jane Whilding or William Brees.

I think that Jane died 4th q. 1855 in Newton.

As for the son named Jeremiah I'll proceed with him tomorrow.

A 75 year old William Brees died in Machylleth June qtr 1838 v27 p59 - might be a candidate for Jane's husband.

No luck in finding a death for Jane (Owen) W[h]ilding

Jane Brees/Blayney must have been with Jeremiah on the 1841 census, as they married in 1840

You have the correct death for Jane Wilding in 1855 - age 80, yob 1775 given on 1851 census.

If William Brees an Jane Blayney were married in 1825 and William died age 75 in 1838 and Jane age 80 1855, then in 1825 William was 62 and Jane 50. Did they really need consents of parents?

Not too sure that "with consent of parents" means too much in this case, Colin. All the marriages on that page of the Register have the same wording as do those on the previous page.

Baptism at Llanllwchaearn, Montgomeryshire on 11 February 1776 of Jane daughter of Arthur & Jane BLAYNEY.

Looking at the baptisms for children of William BREES at Llanwnnog prior to his second marriage, it seems that his wife could be Susannah and there is a burial at Llanwnnog on 17 May 1823 of Susanna BREES, Clogan, aged 65.

Looking for any burials for a Jane W(H)ILDING the first in the appropriate timescale does bring up one at Aymestrey, Herefordshire for Jane WILDING on 13 July 1832, aged 54 - source National Burial Index. Any chance the family could have been in Herefordshire at some time? It could also be worthwhile searching for any likely burials in Shropshire.
