It's so complicated! In the book there's a long section which says Lucy brought up Nancy Nanyi he who was really the daughter of tame doe who married Francis Ward. Lucy's baby was smothered by accident in her sleep. If this is true then she couldn't have died in childbirth. But it doesn't say when she died. Nancy married Bryant, but he didn't seem to know about Lucy, she was his aunt!
There is a Francis five killer Ward. He's been mixed up with Francis above, but I think he's another person
I think Stephen is something to do with the family of Francis, who everyone seems to agree came from Ireland. Just wish I could identify which family he came from

I don't think so, my Stephen lived in Bermondsey and his wife was Ann. I don't think he went to America

Do we have an approximate birth year for Stephen or have I missed it?
It may be complicated but it’s extremey interesting and addictive. Can’t leave it be. :reading:

I just found a thing that says that Lucy is a fictional character from a book. I suspect the book I have just been sent (sigh)

Thank you. Don't know anything about Stephens age except his first definite child was born 1783 in Bermondsey. Died in 1814, no age given

Yes. That has been stated in a few online trees. Along with mother, father etc. Who knows? When I found no burials on Find a Grave I got a bit suspicious. Again, who knows.

I am descended from Bryant Ward and Nanye-hi’ Nancy Ward, my 6th great grandparents. Bryant Ward came from County Antrim, in Northern Ireland. No one knows who Nanye-hi’s parents were.

Hello Donna, what a wonderfully interesting family history you have. :D
Nancy, rightly or wrongly is said to be the niece of Attakullakulla (Onkanacleah), but who knows :headbang:

Yes, it is said she was a niece of Attakullakulla, but we really don’t know. What we know is she was Wolf Clan. I’m descended from her daughter’s daughter’ (so on and so forth) until you get to my grandfather, who married a white woman, and so our Clan affirmation ends with him. Male members of the mother’s Clan were considered much more important to the child than the actual father was.

One thing I can tell you for certain, Moytoy had no known descendants. Any children he might have had are unknown to us.

Annabel, first, there was no such person as “Tame Doe,” she was a fictional character in a poem.
Hello Annabel. Nancy Ward had a son named Fivekiller with her 1st husband, Kingfisher. They also had a daughter, Kati. Fivekiller is buried alongside his mother and her brother, Longfellow at Womankiller Ford in Poke Co., Tennessee. There is no Francis Fivekiller Ward that I am aware of. Nancy had one daughter with Bryant Ward, Elizabeth “Betsy” Ward, who is my 4Xs great grandmother.

Thank you Donna, how amazing to have such ancestors. My own family is not anything to do with the clans unfortunately, my family never set foot in America. My association was investigating possible shared ancestry back in Ireland with those Wards and my Wards, but so far any possible connections have been fictional characters. :headbang:
