I have just found a marriage in 1934 at the beautiful Holy Trinity Church at Lamorbey. Registered as Bromley. Is it still in Kent or Greater London.?
The Bromley registration district on UKBMD doesn't list Lamorbey at all.

I have people in Bexley, Chiselhurst & Sidcup, Bromley, Orpington, all of which I believed to be in Kent & have stated as such in my Legacy files.

Can some one please tell me where on earth they really are.?

Thank you Sis, but, does that apply also in 1930s? I try to keep up with the boundary changes over there which can make a hash of my files, for example I now have people who lived in London/ Surrey to avoid too many places for same families who didn't move.
    I guess I could do Kent/ London, but I don't like it. :(

I always put the county that they were in at the time when the event took place so for example Greenwich, Kent not the London Borough of Greenwich, West Ham, Essex not London Borough of Newham.
I live in Romford, Essex which is in the London Borough of Havering and if a child was born here today they would probably later say that they were born in Havering, but at no time has Romford divorced itself from the county of Essex, so our postal address is Romford, Essex not Romford, Havering and lately the national press when reporting any events happening in Romford, Essex will insist on calling it Romford, East London (Yuk) and to make matters worse although we are in Essex, because we are in a London Borough our police force is the Metropolitan Police which covers all the London Boroughs and not Essex Police. Confusing yes, so stick with what the place was when the event occured.

Bromley was absorbed into Greater London in the mid 60's (1965, I think), so in the 1930's, it would have been in Kent.

My thoughts exactly - and Southwark is still in Surrey as far as I am concerned... :sceptical:

Must remember to ignore events past the 1960s. :D

Now I must go back & add these important events.

It might not appear on maps:sceptical: but anyone who lives here (and it is still used as a postal address) still from Middlesex8(:-), not the London Borough of -----.
Mine is L B of Hillingdon - Hillingdon is just a small place a few miles away:D

Heyes, Hillingdon, Uxbridge Middlesex. Yep have them also. In looking at my locations I keep finding two or three of the same place as in Sutton, Surrey Sutton by Croydon & 3 for Thanet- Thanet with Dover , Thanet, & Thanet Hospital, which is Margate. Must alter that one I think.
Only one person in each of those Thanets.

I'm still torn apart with the various Churches & whether or not there are more than one of same name in quite small areas but am slowly getting there I think.
Maybe , just noticed all of the "All Saints", & combined a few while typing this & am left with Rotherhithe Surrey & Rotherhithe Southwark.
Rather like those BMDs for St Olave which wandered between Bermondsey & Southwark. I'm surprised we ever found anyone we looked for over there.

I'm leaving my Essex people exactly where they said they were in Essex.
