Does GRO mean they only go up to, but not including 1957? I put all the information in the form for a death cert. exactly as I read it, including page and vol. and keep getting "record not found".. Death was the first quarter of 1957. Maybe it is me... I also cannot find the birth of his mother in 1853. I haven't ordered for awhile, but when I did before I always had good luck finding who I was looking for.

I think that may be the case Susan as with FreeBMD it must be before the last mentioned date. Edit Just checked that out. I put Martin -female- 1957 & they went up to Dec. Q. 1957.
Susan, did you see the death record on FreeBMD? If so you can send a message to GRO to infirom that the record is missing, & they will check to see where it got to & let you know they are doing so. Often less is more even on GRO site. I have put surname M mn & date +-2 until I find it. Unless as with a recent check of mine the birth is badly recorded in 1939.
Hi Wendy.. @Jellylegs helped me sort it all.. still no luck though with gr. uncle. The one I thought was him, wasn't him once I saw the 2nd name... I do think it was acting up for a bit as I did get on for others and then gr. grandma's birth..went without the vol and page and got her. I was going by what was transcribed from hand written page and they had the wrong page number, but hand writing was really hard to make out. I ordered 2 for now...it's been quite awhile since I ordered, but decided to treat myself this month.!
