Many, many thanks to @demeler for posting this. I spent the whole weekend finding lots of helpful items, including some photos and a long-sought obit for Hubby's great-great-grandmother that includes her father's name, which will get us back another generation on that line! Yeehaw!
I returned to my search too late - and now I can see a snippet with an ancestor's name dangling just out of reach. Isn't it always the way?
I do have reservations about putting bank details in for a free 7-day trial. Thought hard about last night because I could see that the local rag in New Jersey was welcoming my ancestors from Yorkshire after they emigrated. Why do sites actually request bank details like this? If I found the trial was beneficial, I would take out a sub at the end of it and be happy to provide my bank details. If I didn't make use of it, I wouldn't. Or do they just hope that for every few people that untick the auto-renew box, another one will forget.
Do you know which newspaper it was? Might be able to find it elsewhere, or a reprint in a different paper.
You're welcome. I am also yeehawing as I picked up a number of gems. By adding a payment wall for free trials, I think it is also to limit use. If it was just an email address, then a person could have multiple upon multiple free trials.
