Thomas Throp (b. 1786) was sentenced to 'life' at York Assizes in 1826 - for burglary. From there he was transferred to the hulk 'Retribution' on the Thames, before heading out in September on a one-way cruise to Oz on board the 'Albion'. He arrived in NSW on 14th Feb 1827.

1828 NSW census showed him working for William Parsons at South Creek (Thomas Thorpe). South Creek would also appear to be a cattle-holding pound around this time (Trove search). That is all I am able to dig up on Thomas, using currently limited resources. What happened to him? Did he obtain his ticket of leave and settle in Australia? Did he marry?

    Also known as Thomas Thorp.

    On the job!
I know exactly where South Creek is. It runs into the Hawkesbury River near Windsor north west of Sydney. I've sat on the bank and painted there.:)

I am not sure if you have seen this account of when the Albion arrived but it might also add some flavour to what happened. :)

Mistake....it could be Edward Cox as his conditional pardon as recommended by Edward Cox in October 1840

William Cox was a military officer, road builder and explorer who built the road over the Blue mountains but he had a son Edward a politician, so it could be him.

Dabee Station was/is near Bathurst at a place named Rylstone originally granted to Richard Fitzgerald but claimed by Edward Cox son of William Cox, road builder and explorer.
