Good spotting Jellylegs. I had put in as many spellings of Truan as I could but Transon and Tronson escaped me ,so must try those next time? Looked at the image and the surname looks like Trauran. I deleted the Bellem off the tree last night until I can sure that he is the man. Seeing Gerrans is throughout the census for Elizabeth Ann I can't see that she would have put Penryn as her place of birth in 1871. I wonder where the Elizabeth Ann Truran with father Andrew post#1 is in 1861
I think that the 1871 census Elizabeth Truran whose father was Andrew and mother Betsy is the one involved with Bellem. She was,as Chimp says,Truran with her first born and the 1871 census has Penryn as her birth place. My Elizabeth has had Gerrans and I am sure that she would have put that place of birth in the 1871 census. I wonder if those that Elizabeth lived with in 1841 were relatives of Whetter because Elizabeth was 5 years old and taken away from her father.
Thomasin Whetter's parents were Jacob Whetter and Mary Odgers. Bingo! A marriage of Jacob Whetter and Mary Odgers 21 Dec 1796. Both from Gorran. Witnesses were Amos Collett and Joseph Sillwood. I think that my Elizabeth was sent to a family member after her mother's death. Daughter Thomasin was buried 6 November 1836 at Gerrans. Her address Churchtown. Elizabeth Ann was baptised 16 January 1836.Address Churchtown.
I thinks that the Margery living with Elizabeth in 1841 is Margery Odgers Collett that married Hugh Thomas 18 Dec 1851. Her father was John. Father's rank/profession has Dead A bit blunt! Added: Marriage at St Ewe and bride address- Polmassick. CornwallOPC.
The name Collett appears in a later census to do with this family. Baptisms - father Jacob, mother Mary all in Gorrans Philippa Whetter Baptism date: 17 Aug 1795 Mary Odgers Whetter Baptism date: 16 Mar 1801 Death date: 20 Aug 1805 John Odgers Whetter Baptism date: 02 Jan 1803 Thomasin Whetter Baptism date: 03 Jun 1805 John Odgers Whetter appears on the 1851 census at Church Town, St Michael Carhayes, St Austell, Cornwall HO107, Piece number 1908, Folio 183, Page 10 He is with his wife Ann and 3 children. Living with them is his mother-in-law Mary Collett Marriage date: 25 Jun 1831, St Michael Caerhays JOHN ODGERS WHETTER ANN JENKIN How his wife ended up with the surname JENKIN when her mother was a COLLETT I have no idea.
Maybe Mary, Ann's mother, remarried, there is this marriage Marriage date: 24 Apr 1808, Probus Zacharias COLLET Mary JINKIN
Just found this ,http://www.collettfamilyhistory.net/Part-21-The-Cornwall-Line-1650-to-1840-Rev.20a.htm but remove link if not allowed. According to the information Jacob died and Mary his widow married John Bohenna Collett. I presume that is the family 5 year old Elizabeth is living with when her mother died. I shall add those names to the family tree. In the past I hadn't looked into Elizabeth Ann but she is a half sister to my lot so I thought that I dig.
Just looked at FMP and there is another Philippa baptised the daughter of Jacob and Mary.Baptised 25 Mar 1799.
I wonder if this is your Elizabeth Ann? Marriage: Quarter 3 1868, St. Austell William BUSE and Elizabeth TREOUN 1871 census (RG10; Piece 2262; Folio 73; Page 4) at Tregonissey Road, St Austell William BUSE (Head) b. 1829 Westleigh, Devon - Shoemaker Elizabeth BUSE (Wife) b. 1834 Gerrans, Cornwall 1881 census (RG11; Piece 2302; Folio 78; Page2) at Hotel Road, St Austell William BUSE (Head) b. 1831 Bideford, Devon - Shoemaker Elizabeth BUSE (Wife) b. 1835 St. Ewe Albert BUSE (Son) b. 1873 St. Austell Elizabeth BUSE (Daughter) b. 1876 St. Austell GRO BIRTH INDEX Albert BUSE Dec Q 1872 St. Austell - mmn TREWIN Elizabeth Ann BUSE DecQ 1875 St. Austell - mmn TREWAN I haven't looked for any more births for this couple, nor found them on census after 1881 - will go off to have more of a look now. Found one more birth - Edmund Ernest 1878 St. Austell - mmn TRUAN Unfortunately, there is a death for an Edmund Ernest in the March Q of 1879, St. Austell - age 0
Can't like because of the child but thanks for the info Jellylegs. Can't find them in other censuses yet.
FMP has Elizabeth A Buse in the probate death index 1935. Died 4 July 1935. Living at St Miniver. Probate Beatrice Buse a spinster. I found her birth and her mother is Collett.
Think I may have found the BUSE family (whether it is yours or not?) in later census. Have a look and see what you think. All from Ancestry - not checked what FMP has them as. 1891 RG12; Piece 1822; Folio 167; Page 2 at Drews Court, St. Austell - enumerated as BOWES. Elizabeth, Albert, Bessie (the daughter Elizabeth) and a 9 year old daughter Alice Maud whose birth registration is 1881 St. Austell under BUSE, but with no mother's maiden name. Elizabeth senior is a widow. 1901 RG13; Piece 2210; Folio 30; Page 15 at Albers or Albert Road, St. Austell enumerated as BEWES. Elizabeth; Albert and Bessie 1911 (sorry, can never work out ref) at 17 Duke Street, St. Austell. Enumerated as BEWES - Albert (head), Bessie and Alice (sisters), together with a 16 year old boarder Ray Marks (who completed and signed the census Form). I found a death of a William Thomas BEWES aged 59 in the Dec Q of 1889, St. Austell. A death of a Elizabeth A BEWES aged 69 in the Dec Q 1910, St. Austell. If this is your Elizabeth A, her age does change through the census, so could be her.
1939 Register - a possible for sisters Elizabeth A and Alice M BEWES (both still single) living together at 19 Grosvenor Place, Grosvenor Road, St. Austell ???
A baptism for an Alice BEWES 8 February 1882, St. Austell. Parents William and Elizabeth. ??? A death registration of an Elizabeth A BEWES aged 68 (born 1875) - in 1943, St. Austell.
