Mine came back very early last year - 6th April or thereabouts. I've paid my last week's rent on my stable after 21 years and am having a break from having horses. The one thing is will miss - really miss - are my swallow broods, from the first swooping and chattering on the wing as they arrive back in Spring to when the last fledglings line up on the telegraph wires to fly away. I love it when the yellow beaks shakily emerge after the egg stage. Burt, promise me we can see a picture of your baby swallows later on when they line up outside the nest?
They lift my heart when I see them @burt, probably wont this year though as they aren't in the town. If we can get to the nature reserve nearby we might. My favourite bird of all.
Last year, one of our customers, an avid bird watcher, turned up minutes after they had emerged from the nest and took some great photos! Will see what I can do.
Slowly easing back into civilisation over here. 97 deaths country wide and here in the Western Districts of NSW we have nil active victims. We should be back to almost normal, cross fingers, by the end of July. But Archie’s Dad and I will still be in lockdown at least until then as Archie Dog will be having a luxating patella operation next Friday and will have to be crated for SIX weeks How on earth do you keep a Jack confined in a crate for that long. DRUGS.... that’s how.
Went into town today, it was great. Most shops open for restricted trading. Was able to pick up some things for daughters birthday. Hope she likes Llamas So nice to actually get out for other than essentials. And next Wednesday we get to see the kids, can’t wait. Our streets aren’t deserted anymore. Mother’s Day tomorrow so I guess lots doing shopping for that.
Sorry. I know things are rather awful over your way. Perhaps I should have kept it to myself. Thank goodness we are reasonably isolated. But we shouldn’t get ahead of ourselves, all the same.
I’m in awful trouble if she doesn’t like them.....coffee cups with llamas and matching tea towel, a throw rug with llamas and llama wrapping paper. Going back tomorrow to get a llama plant pot..... Then find a greeting card with a llama.
Schools in NSW went back today. My daughters birthday. What a great birthday present. Empty house all to herself. No one around. Spend the whole day doing what she wants. I have been bombarded with emails and messages from my favourite clothes shops. 70% discounts....you beauty....can’t wait to buy some nice new warm clothes. Only problem the sales are for on line shoppers. What’s the point. If it doesn’t fit you have to send it back and start again. Bricks and mortar shops are shut with restricted opening hours but they don’t bother posting the opening hours on the door. Then we have the Archie dog after cruciate ligament surgery in his little crate for another 4 weeks or so but he has been really accepting of the confinement. Hubby lost his wedding ring..... His heart ended up in his shoes when he realised it wasn’t on his finger. After checking everywhere including kitchen and bathroom drains. The car. The garden. ‘Check your gardening gloves’ YES !!! There it was. Three days before we realised it wasn’t on his finger. I think we will be getting a little clip for it so it stays where it belongs. All in all Oz is getting back to normal........crossed fingers. Happy days
Alan lost his wedding ring when we went on holiday to celebrate our 1st wedding anniversary many moons ago, he went for a dip in the sea and a wave knocked him off his feet and it slipped off. Annoying thing was he saw it fall in the clear water and went to scoop it up when another wave came and it disappeared into the sand. He came back out looking rather sheepish but hey ho not a lot he could do. Had to buy a new one when we got home - I tease him about it sometimes
Weve had some close calls of late with the ring. Hubby had put on heaps of weight, well not heaps but he was a skinny thing when we married, it got really tight and had to have it cut off. Then we had piece put in so he could wear it again. Of course the drastic weight loss with his near death experience led me to wearing it on a chain. The new he, has seen him put on weight again but apparently not enough to keep the ring on his finger. So it looks like some more surgery on the ring.
Quite some years ago, I kept his wedding ring in a musical jewelery box with that of my late Mother. He was advised not to wear it at work. We were saved the trouble of keeping it safe when nasty people broke into the house, broke the mechanics of jewelery box & relieved it of rings, along with dtrs wages which she had left out [before compulsory wage banking] broke into son's toy boxes & took money boxes, in school library bag, pkt of 'minties' & dtrs small t.v. Son of our lovely greek neighbours spotted them coming out with the t.v. & hailed them up and called police. All happened minutes before youngest son arrived home with school mate in tow. He doesn't have a wedding ring any more.
My sympathies I've had that feeling with rings a couple of times and it is very unpleasant, fortunately I've been lucky each time and found them. My problem is weight loss too, I am considering having a piece cut out of both rings but since I'm putting on weight, albeit very very slowly, I'm going to wait a while.
My mum lost her wedding ring for over year. she was distraught when she found it had gone, it had not been off of her finger since the day dad put it there. In the end, he bought her a new one. She had (I have) her dowry trunk (made of tin) in which she kept all of he spare materials and curtaining. She was looking for something and found the ring laying in amongst the folded fabric about half way down - she must have put something back and when she slid her hands out, the ring came off. From that day she wore them both, the new smaller one stopped the original from slipping off again. I now wear that ring, and my sister has the replacement.
