Rather like clothes shopping without trying it on eh? Then a dash back to the store to exchange it all. hoping you still have the receipt of sale [ or in this case the 'source' from where you found the info.]
I've just had another crack on Ancestry's EPRI to find the marriage of John Patience or Pashion (and anything in between ) so out of desperation I searched on just the names John and Mary (no surnames)1685 t0 1695, Essex , I selected Exact for both names and marriage. I waded through 476 results and boy did I see some mangled names, of course couldn't find what I was looking for, there were too many examples to write down. An awful lot of Johns married Marys in Essex, plague proportions.
is John PERSONS too far away? I found this marriage on FreeReg. County Essex Place Takeley Church Holy Trinity Register type Parish Register Marriage 10 Feb 1691/2 Groom John PERSONS Bride Mary NASH Transcribed by Julie Harold File line no. 109
No I don't think it's too far away, in distance or spelling, thanks for that Murfomurf, I didn't think of trying Persons, I've noted the Patience families as Pas(s)on, Pashion, Patient and others that I can't recall off the top of my head. I had noticed some Patience people in Takeley and nearby Little Canfield, I'll check them out again in Ancestry's EPRI, Free Reg and the online transcripts for Takeley and Lt Canfield, armed with the Persons name knowledge. I just hope that John & Mary Persons didn't have children baptised the same time as John and Mary Patience in Gt Easton, everyone. please cross you finger and legs I need all the help I can get on this one.
I promise I will not put any more Patience etc posts on here after this one. I have checked out the Persons marriage on Ancestry's EPRI, Takeley transcripts, and Family search. EPRI has John Persons and Mary Rash same date same place. Takeley Transcripts have John Perkins and Mary Nash. Family Search has nothing. In Free Reg I did a search for children of John & Mary Persons in Takeley and found none but I did find them under Parsons. I found seven children baptised 1692 to 1713, the father, John, was named but not the mother. However one of the children was named Nash Parsons and in 1741 a Nash & Elizabeth Parsons baptised 2 children at Takeley 1741 & 1742. I guess that establishes that John Persons is really John Parsons, I think we can rule that marriage out There were only two Patience children baptised at Takeley in the period 1650 to 1750 via Free Reg, only the father's name, John, was given. Thomas 26 Jun 1720. Philip 10 Oct 1725. No Patience or variants marriage at Takeley in an appropriate period for my research. Back to the drawing board with a muttered Toyota word, begins with B. Seeing how an associated family, Baker appear to be in Netteswell which is not far from the Essex/Hertfordshire border, I'm wondering if this John Patience to Mary marry marriage that I can't find could be in Hertfordshire. I think in the past when researching my Essex Franklin family I found a link to some Herts transcripts like Ware where the Franklins married Wilkinsons, I'll go into My Documents and find the link, hopefully. As promised I'll make no more posts on this topic, if I find something (or nothing I'll create a topic of my own.
Right that's it I'm giving this family history up. Just found a direct ancestor on several trees on Ancestry one has him executed at Newgate prison 1809 marrying in Wolverhampton 1810 having a son in Wolverhampton 1813 all the above took place while also fighting in the Napoleonic wars he is then transported to Devil's Island in 1837 appears on the 1841 census in Stockten County Durham then dies in Wolverhampton in 1846
There's no reports in the papers of a blue police-box showing up at any of these locations is there ?
That is................impressive. I had one the other day who was born in 1738, first child in 1745, but she died in 1742. If I also see one more 'deceased' on a record for someone who lived 200 years ago I shall scream. I have a special place in my teeth grinding for the individual who puts hearts in the middle of people's names as well...yes, I am a grumpy old woman
Must make searching so much more fun unless you implant a heart as well! Are these the same people who put those cutesy-face pictures on their personal profile with hearts instead of eyes.? ( the kind you see on Facebook) Grrrrr....
I'm having issues with a missing DNA match of my husband. He showed up a few weeks back as a new match and had a lot of information on a family name they share of a gr grandmother of my husband. It was late when I saw it and thought I had saved him in the family grouping as I had to set up a new group. After about a week I went back in and he wasn't there and even by searching the most recent matches I can't find him. The family grouping says 0 members. I really want to contact him, but can't find him to do so.. To top it off when I click on a couple of the people who come up as matches when I search that name, once I look at their tree the Ancestry pages freeze and I can no longer scroll up or down. This gr, grannie must have cursed all who try to search for her ancestors.
Doing that to me, too. I sometimes wonder if it's the ancestors at work, throwing a spanner in the works, trying to prevent me from finding stuff out. No, it's just Ancestry being Ancestry.
