Thanks! I saw this last night, and when I put it in my tree, found her there as the mother-in-law of a Beer descendant in Canada! She's in the 1881 census for Strathroy, Middlesex, Ontario.
Okay! I just sent a message to SW Heritage Centre via an online search form. The "thank you" page said it will take up to 10 days to reply to the message. Fingers crossed! In the meantime, I've made much progress on the children of Richard and Ann Treleaven. Only a few loose ends to tie up, which I need to go back in my notes now to make a "punch list." If I get stuck....
Just an update: Almost immediately after sending my inquiry, I got a very nice reply explaining that from the reference number, they hold a full copy of the will and probate on microfiche - not digitized yet. All I had to do was send in a form (attached) and they would get back to me on the cost. They are short-handed, and will process in order received. Took me a couple of days, but I got that done. In this mornings email was an invoice for 8.00 GBP (pdf copy), and a button to click via Paypal's system. Current conversion and fees came to $11.02 USD. So far I'm very impressed with the Devon Archives and SW Heritage bunch.

Thanks to Delta, it's too rainy to work in the yard today, so I'm posting a follow-up on that will for Jacob Beer: Jacob Beer in Stonehouse Devon (Exeter) - requests to be buried at the parish churchyard in Stonehouse, Devon. - leaves Eleanor everything including "all my Trading ships or parts or shares of Trading ships." - will dated Nov 12, 1822. - Witnesses are John Bryant, Chas Rundle and R Treleaven (all relatives of Eleanor residing at Lanlivery) - March 23, 1827, Eleanor signed that all of the estate (less what is held in trust for others, etc.) has a total value under two hundred pounds. Later shipping records show several vessels with Wm Beer as part owner, but I don't know if this is Jacob's son, William. I'm curious about Jacob's "Trading ships." Any ideas? Of their children, I have only tracked down Mary Treleaven Beer Hill Couzens (1777-1861) and Christopher (1791-1871). That leaves William (1784) and Jenefer (1787) and also the death of Eleanor. I don't have any paid subs right now - so any help is greatly appreciated.
Just had a quick look at the papers, and I found in the North Devon Journal (strangely enough, my local paper, although I only look at the old ones ) of the 3rd April 1828 under Plymouth news At Morice Town, aged 73, Eleanor, relict of the late Mr Jacob Beer of Cremill Point.
I hit return by mistake, then took so long typing the following I was out of time So here goes again I think Jenefer BEER married a Daniel MADDICK on 1 Aug 1805 at Plymouth St. Andrew. Daniel was a seaman (of the Hired Armed Cutter Charlotte - rather than a Parish ). He died in 1818. He is listed in the Index to Death Duty Registers (on FMP) in 1819 (as Danl) - Executor Jennifer MADDICK. Daniel was buried on 10 Oct 1818 at Portsmouth - aged 36, which ties in with a birth/baptism I saw somewhere along the way in 1782. I can only find one baptism to a Daniel and Jennifer - Daniel, born 26 Dec 1809, bap 15 May 1810 at Stoke Dameral. There are later baptisms to what is possibly the same couple, but Jennifer is now Jane (all in Portsmouth):- Jane 28 Feb 1812 William 4 Feb 1814 James 13 Aug 1815 Eleanor Beer 12 Jan 1817 I found a burial of a 5 month old Mary MADDICK in 1819 - of Broad Street, which is the same address as on Daniel's burial in 1818. I couldn't find a baptism for her though On 25 May 1820 in the parish of Alverstoke, Hampshire a Jennifer MADDICK married a Samuel PARNELL. The 1841 census has Jane and Samuel PARNELL in Belle Vue terrace Portsea, Hampshire with various younger Parnell's and James, Jane and Ellen MADDICK (all shown as age 20). Jane (Jennifer - if it is her) is shown as aged 40, so age is a bit out, but Samuel was a minor when they married . HO107/414/1/3/1 The 1851 census has them at 12 Bellvue Terrace, Portsea - HO107/1659/8/8 with a daughter Mary PARNELL b. 1829, son Christopher PARNELL b. 1827, daughter Jane MADOCKS b, 1816 and grand-daughter Jane MADOCKS b. 1835. There is a burial of a Jane Jennifer PARNELL age 68 of Belle Vue Terrace, Southsea on 19 Aug 1857 (so born about 1789, which is a bit nearer to to the age of your Jenifer). Hoping she is yours
Don't know what is going on with me tonight, but just came back on here and the above hadn't posted, but was still there waiting.
The first ship I can see with Beer as part owner was in 1874, the Matharan built by Vivian of Salcome. The next is the Express owned by William Randell Beer, Phillip Trant and Charles Henry Balkwill. It was transporting coal, iron, timber, slate, lime and general merchandise from 1885 when it was built by William Date. Stores at Dodbrooke, Salcombe, Frogmore and South Pool. I haven't yet come across Jacob Beer, obviously much before these dates.
Just popping in before morning chores. @Jellylegs, you've given a lot for me to process. After the first tidbit in #30, I tried to find David and Jen together with no luck. Thanks for posting the rest, even if it was after the edit timer! (Has happened to me before, too.)
There's some in the 1830's in Exeter, from the SW Heritage site where the will was found. I don't have it in front of me at the moment, though. Somewhere I came across the list of slave ship owners from the area - no Beers there! Whew!
LOL! No wonder I couldn't find Beer and Maddick - I was looking for David, not Daniel. Now that I've taken the trouble to carefully read the help provided, I'll start to incorporated it into my notes! Jen's sister Mary was also in Portsmouth for awhile. She finally wound up in Yorkshire!
Re: Daniel Maddick m. Jennifer "Jane" Beer - I found a few images of the records on Familysearch. Most notably is the first son, Daniel's baptism is on the same date and one line above the baptism of Edward and Mary Treleaven Beer Couzens' daughter, Mary Hancock (who I have as Mary Hannah). I found the baptism for Daniel and Jane's daughter, Mary Maddick on Oct 11, 1818 - which is the day after Daniel's burial. I wonder if the stress of Daniel's death caused a premature birth? Taking a break, then I'll follow up on Parnell.
