I am in the process of tying up some loose ends on the family line of a 3X Great-grand Uncle.

The family is lost after 1911 [can the title be amended, please]?

Now back after a couple of turbulent hours!!

William Brown married Naomi Hilda Pickford 21 Jamuary 1891 in Salisbury, Wiltshire. He was a self employed Foreign Stamp Dealer and appears to have been a man of some wealth as at the time of the 1891 census, he was aged 26, living at 39 Castle Street, Salisbury and had a live-in Domestic Servant.

They had 2 children - Esther Naomi [2nd q. 1892] and Philip William [3rd q. 1898] both born and registered in Alderbury. In the 1901 census the family, along Sarah Pickford [Naomi's mother aged 72 and a widow], were living at 35 Castle Street, Salisbury. They now had 3 live-in Domestic Servants and his occupation was the same.

At the time of the 1911 census, there was only William and Naomi, along with the m-i-l. and 2 live-in Domestic Servants. They were living at 72 Endless Street, Salisbury, he was aged 46 and a Foregn Stamp Dealer and Artist.

Question - I think the 2 children aged 19 and 13 may have been elsewhere, but as I cannot find them, could they have been away at an overseas school?

After the 1911 census, Sarah, the m.i.l. move to Surrey and dies on 10 November 1911. She was 83 years old and at the time of her death was resident at 53 Castelnau, Barnes, Surrey. Probate was granted to her Executors - Arthur Ferdinand Pickford [married son] and John Benjamin Sherwin Engall [son-in-law and spouse of Edith Mary Pickford]. Neither of the Executors were living in Surrey when she died.

    Questions:
1] What prompted the move in 1911 to Surrey?
2] Where did William and Naomi go after 1911?
3] What happened to their 2 children in later years?

    Colin

Colin, I actually got tired of lookingfor Esthers & keyed in Naomi Esther F. BROWN. Then scrolled. She loomed up about 3/4 of the way down the page. I didn't even notice the correction at first. Brekky calls.

Have now heard from the lady who made the correction.

Like myself, she also is distantly connected to the family, and has not been able to find them or the death of William Bown - the Foreign Stamp Dealer and Artist.

Philip William French BROWN'S baptism is on Ancestry.

There is a marriage of a Philip W F Brown in Wiltshire in 1939 and a death of a Philip W F Brown in 1972, St. Marylebone.

May or may not be your chap - you will have to investigate further.

Death registration of a Naomi H Brown in 1912, Salisbury.

She died 30 June 1912 - take a look at Ancestry's England and Wales, National Probate Calendar (Index of Wills and Administrations) 1858 - 1966.

A Foster Ferrier CHARLTON died 29 November 1950 - probate to Esther Naomi French CHARLTON, widow (from Ancenstry, again).

Colin, are you sure you have been searching? It hasn't taken too long to find these few bits :(

Just so you know I can find things, I'll tell you that I found all that you did, Jellylegs, and lots more as well.

Can't explain why I had problems back in November 2013.

Yeah, but ---- one part of the family [a son of the CHARLTON's] seems somewhat elusive on Passenger Lists to and from Kenya in the 1950's.

Does it really matter? Originally you were just "tying up loose ends".
