FMP is offering free access this weekend midday 7th November to midday 10th November, for Remembrance weekend.
It does say its all records not just military.
    Happy hunting everyone!

"From midday, Friday November 7th to midday on Monday, November 10th (GMT), you’ll be able to access:
    • Global record sets that include census, birth, marriage, death and travel records amongst many more
    • Historical newspapers stretching as far back as 1710...
    • Military records, including our WW1 collections, so that everyone has the chance to trace their family this Remembrance weekend
There is no need to do anything to your account, just sign in as normal over the weekend and you’ll be able to explore our record sets from around the world."

I nearly bought a month's sub last night, too. :)

Just logged in and it is not yet Friday - here!

I'm not sure I agree with that. Following the 'debacle' last April, we cancelled the auto-renew in Profile.

    That membership ended last month.
And what did we get from them - nothing.
    No reminder.
No offer(s) - remember that those who complained got two months free!
No - sorry to lose you - email
    No "Exit Questionnaire".
Absolutely no contact from them at all.

THAT's how much they value their 'customers'!

Just my luck. I was searching t'other day and found a FS entry that linked to an image on FMP but, with the subscription expired, I couldn't view it.

Just gone to my tree on Ancentry to see if I could remember what it was and.......the site, Ancestry (UK) is down and up faster than a yo-yo.:(

And currently, more down than up.

Dear me - mixed views about FMP : twas ever thus, I guess. I had the email too, Sandiep, so we have some comfort.

Will see how things go when I learn how to use the site more profitably, then decide whether to renew or not.

I havent used FMP for a while & thought Id make good use of the free weekend until I tried a search & realised how hard they have made things, the searches are so generic & bring up lots that have no relevance, I wanted to search for births in Leicestershire with just the parents names but they have made it too hard, unless im not doing it right.

I thought it would crash just after the start time, but it was working well.
I was able to log on, using my cancelled account, and found some entries on the census files for 1861 & 1901 using just the street name. I downloaded the images without any problem.

FMP sent me a friendly email to say the free weekend had started. I did a few searches and see they have the US Censi available - looking for Mom's family in 1930. All of a sudden, circling arrows, then a gateway timeout. I guess it's "prime time" in the UK right now? I'll try again later when ya'll are sleeping. ;)

I think you have to log in via your local site - UK, US or AUS, and you get their records. If you have a current subs you can access the other sites but I think as a non subs you only get the local site. I may be wrong as it's not too easy to understand the T's & C's.

In my case, I had an old UK registration from free voucher codes some time ago. I have some UK research, but was surprised to see US census images for years I usually have to view via A....... . Was on a moment ago and it happened again viewing records in Hants. Oh well, it's almost time to start supper.

Weirdly, I seem to be having more success on FMP.com than co.uk. o_O

    I was just kidding - take 2 words - WEIRD & WIELD. Won't say more - in trouble already:oops::eek:

a friend did spell the 2nd word as WEALD - as in Harrow and Weald - so all I can say is -- "it is a tough language to learn as a Newcomer - or in my cas dragged up proper as I was"
