Can I access Australian death details of people who may have died in recent years?

Not knowing anything at all about Australian records because mine are all in the UK, I would dearly like to know if I can look up two people here in Australia who have both dropped out of my life in recent times, and I suspect that both might have died.

30 years for deaths here in NSWBDM, different for some other states, so no luck there.
How about Electoral Rolls. Not sure if they are on-line though.

You can change the name of the newspaper from the drop down menu.

EDIT - I have found works best if you only search the surname. Adding first name often corrupts results.

Thanks Doug! I don't think either of my people would have warranted an obituary, but I will give it a try!
 
In case you missed my post of yesterday Diana Ancestry have free access to Australian records this weekend, they have electoral rolls. Not able to look for you off to see Laylah:D
 
Have you tried the Ryerson List. I am having an old age moment here. It is Ryerson "something". I will try to google it myself.
 
Thanks to everyone for all the suggestions! Unfortunately none have brought forth any results, so I think I will have to go to the local Electoral Office and see if I can find details of a present day address and see if I can find them that way.

Over here in the West there is a Metropolitan Cemeteries Board that have a search facility on their website to search all of the cemeteries in one go. Maybe its worth a google to see if there is anything similar in your area Diana.

Thanks Sis, Unfortunately these two people are/were inconsiderate and lived in different States...one in NSW and the other in Qld. Am still looking so will explore the possibility of a Cemeteries Board in both! Neither is actually important......just the unexpected loss of friends without a reason, and curiosity has got the better of me. Thanks for your help and suggestion. Diana

Thanks Joanne, Unfortunately this I don't know the address where this friend lived as in recent years we were only in contact by email. I know she was living (unhappily) with her son and daughter in law in Qld, but when things got bad, she went to her sister in NSW. I don't know either address so have no idea where to start looking for her. That's my problem, not wanting to ask questions in case of intruding! Diana
 
Have you tried Australian Cemetery Index. Some country burials on there, not all though.
Shame because some Sydney cemeteries have great records. Woronora and Eastern Subs are good! These days though it is mostly cremation so that might change the outcome.
Actually send me a private message with names and I'll have a geezer!

Apart from trawling through every cemetery online which is time consuming but can be fruitful at times,have you thought of writing to womens weekly in their 'looking for" column.
