These Warrens are like rabbits they keep disappearing

    into their little holes. Having not found Emma today I thought I would push my luck and give you this little brickwall if anyone fancies a tinker with it.

    James Warren married Mary Batchelor 15 September 1815.

    They had these children in Wimbledon:
    Edward abt 1814 RIP 1815
    Joshua 23.6.1816
    Edmund 15.11.1818 RIP 1886
    Caroline 16.07.1820 RIP 1822
    Maria 22.9.1822
    then in Merton
    John George David 17.6.1827

    I cannot find a death for James or Mary and cannot find them on any census.
    I cannot find any trace of Joshua, Maria and John George David apart from those baptism records. Edmund and his family lived to a ripe old age in Merton - he was a copper plate printer. James was a plate printer according to some of the baptism records so I reckon that possibly James and Mary went to Merton which was a big silk printing place.
    For the life of me I cannot understand why they went from naming their children with one name and then with the last one they went bonkers.

    I would love to find any of the missing deaths, or anything else on any of them to be honest. Edmund and his family are the only ones I can find in any census and I have them from 1841 through to 1881.

    I think you'll find Joshua in 1851 hiding away in Wolverhampton with a wife and 2 children.

    Cripes Flook how on earth did you find that? On A* it shows the place of birth as Webn Cleda. What on earth was he doing ooop north? I cannot make out the occupation or wifey's place of birth.

    In 1851 at HO107/2018/171/20 (St John Square, Wolverhampton) there is a Joshua WORREN, b. 1816, Wimbledon. He is a Soldier's Servant and with him is his wife Pricilla and 3 children.

    Oh, Flook beat me to it - though I can see 3 children ;)

    It's all magic Blackmogs :) (called The Genealogist). Jellylegs is quite right, there are 3 children. He seems to be Captain Chapman's batman. I'm trying to figure out his wife's birthplace (although I bet Jellylegs will beat me to it!).

    There are some army records (from WO 97) on Findmypast for a Joshua Warren, born (about) 1817 Richmond, Surrey, according to the index.

    Might be worth checking out, especially as the Joshua found by Flook and Jellylegs was a soldier's servant: perhaps he was an ex-soldier himself.

    P.S. the army connection might explain why he'd been in Ireland too.

    On FMP have a check of 'British Army Service records 1760-1915'. I think he may be the Joshua born 1817 in Richmond Surrey in the 48th Foot.

    Well, you are clever all of you. That is definitely him. When I go into the record it says he was born in Wimbledon and he was a cheese monger before he joined up.

    Oh, that's good! If he married while he was in the army you may get the details from his army record. A WorldConnect tree claims that a Wimbledon-born Joshua Warren married Priscilla Chant in Guernsey in 1844, but gives no source:

    According to Hart's 1845 Army List, the 48th (Northamptonshire) Regiment of Foot was serving in Jamaica although their depot was in Hull. This is confirmed as Alfred Augustus Chapman (our Captain in 1851) was an ensign in the 48th at the time>

    Why Joshua (junior) was born in Kilkenny is a mystery - but I'm sure it has a simple explanation.

    on the same page are a Mary Warren age 55 and Maria Warren age 15 ( which would just about be OK allowing for rounding down). What do you think?
    If that was Mary she was buried at Lambeth St Mary 7 July 1848 age 62

    Oh no I thought it said daughter but now I see it is a James and I couldn't read the place apart from Ireland. The earlier child is Kilkenny. and if Mary Ann was Weedon in Northampton earlier in the year they were certainly flying around.
