Can anyone who has had or has a Genes Subscription tell me please, if ones sub has lapsed, does one still get emails from 'Genes' if someone tries to contact them? Or does that sent email just sit unread & un-replied to for-eveeeeeeer?
Wendy.. I never get notifications from them... Hardly ever check in, but they still take their bare minimum money every year. I went and in and looked for messages, but never had any. Seems odd when I used to get lots of them.
My subscription was allowed to lapse about 10 years ago. I received an e-mail just over 3 years ago but all my attempts to reply were bounced back.
Thank you Sue & David. I also put the query to Genes staff & it is that the person even if no longer with a sub, will still get the message-if they check their email box. I believe the reply won't work tho'. Thinking some people now don't bother with email as it's easier [?] to text other people. Then again they may have done all they want with F.History or are just too busy.
Or indeed changed their email address from when they first registered with GR, so they won't get a notification. I have a different email now to when I registered there (probably about eleven years ago) and only go on the site every six months to check the inbox, or when I remember. I had a look yesterday - as Sue remarked, I used to get messages but haven't had any in years. If I did, I'd have to purchase credits to respond to anything, anyway.
I have had no response for years either but like others I hardly ever look these days. My tree is way out of date anyway.
Thanks Jenny, Thanks Jenny,- I keep my account active as I had some lovely 'meets' over the years. Every now & then I contact some-one to see if their person is mine, & usually get a response. Mostly a surprised one.
