I am supposed to be at a local Italian restaurant enjoying a NYE gala dinner, but I'm sat home alone . I have a nasty chesty cough and heavy cold; it would have been silly to force myself to go out. We were to meet another four couples, one of the couples (very close friends) have come up from Northants. I had to push my husband out of the door as he didn't want to leave me alone, but I didn't see the point in both of us missing out on a lovely meal and party atmosphere, also we had paid a £50 deposit. Our friends from Northants are staying with other friends tonight and coming to us for dinner tomorrow and staying overnight. That will be nice, as I can loll about in pyjamas if I still feel rough, and hubby will do the cooking I hope everyone else is having an enjoyable NYE with friends or family.
I wisely [or not] went to bed at usual time, woke briefly to hear a short burst of crackers & shouts of "happy new year" & drifted off again. Rest while you can Lizzie & garner new strength to fight off the nasties. Enjjoy dinner with your chums later.
Hope you get better sooner than later..... It's all over down here. A few noisy idiots letting off crackers just as we dozed of....again and again and again. Got up and watched the Harbour Bridge explode. Quite nice but a bit ho-hum now. All in all it was just another night with a lot of noise. Just him and me....
I'm scrolling through Wesleyan baptisms, fizz in hand, while my other half watches Match of the Day. He is also full of cold. Poor Lizzy, I hope you enjoy your meal tomorrow.
Get better soon, Lizzy... Everyone here has colds as well and hubby has to go out to plow snow. We have had over a foot of the white ** since yesterday morning. I'm sure the others will have some cheer for you. X As for cold remedies.... do you have Fireball Whiskey over there? It will kill you or cure you
That whiskey sounds deadly! As for the snow and as someone who has never had snow as a part of her life, it's hard to imagine that it would be so bothersome. But just like the oppressive heat here at times I think I know where you are coming from. Too much of a good thing......isn't good. A few day's heat or a few day's snow is fine.
It would I imagine be a little like trudging through sand dunes wearing a rubber suit filled with ice. Don't want to do it , me.
That has been me for the past 2 days and Merlin the Labrador has been extremely patient, just using the back garden for neccessities rather than going on a walk.
Hope you are feeling more perky this morning Lizzy. We got up and watched the London fireworks on the tele, went back to bed and some idiots decided to start their celebrations at about 1.00......bangs, flashes, whizzes that seemed to go on and on and on.....just couldn't get back to sleep and finally dozed off for a couple of hours. For all of you suffering with the sniffles or worse
We stayed in until about 11.30 then wandered down the road a bit to watch fireworks over the harbour. They were advertised as the best ever and were excellent. Not on the same scale as London of course! Here's hoping 2017 works out well and healthy for everyone.
