I'm struggling with a John Bonnett (Bonnit/Bonet), born in Seagrave, Leicestershire around 1800 (but could have been christened in Walton on the Wolds, so 1797), illegitimate? son of Mary North BUT father is named as Bonnett (and if it's the Walton one, it's a John Bonnett). My John was a blacksmith, so was likely apprenticed, and again likely, in Barrow-upon-Soar (that's where he married and where his first wife is buried). If anyone can point me to apprentice or parish accounts records for Seagrave/Barrow I'd be most grateful! (There's another Bonnett family in Whitwick, with a John who would fit the age of "my" John's father, but that's only a guess--nothing I can find to document any connection.)

    :)

I have lot's of records for those areas on my computer going back to the middle 16th century. I will have a dig around for you and see what I can come up with!

This may possibly be worth following especially if the Everard family that everyone in Leicestershire is aware of has a connection to Sarah Bonnett.
I have not come across the surname Bonnett before in Leics but i am very familiar with Bennett which there are hundreds of here in Leicester and Leicestershire.
Bonnett may have morphed into Bennett? ( worth a look)
Anyway the Everard family have a brewery near Fosse Park in Leicester.Their main beer is called the tiger, the tigers is the nickname for the Leicestershire Regiment based in the Great War(wwi) about 2 miles away. The local Rugby team is the Leicester Tigers do you see a theme here?;) and it goes on and on. The point is is that the Everard family tree is well documented and if you could find a connection to the Brewing part of the tribe then woohoo! Hope this document attaches to this post as I have never done it before! Good luck and i will keep looking for you!:)

The Thurlston shown is almost certainly Thurlaston,Leics which is close to a village called Earl Shilton which is really a small town now and Loughborow is modern day Loughborough a major town in Leicestershire. Melton Mowbray is also a major town close to Loughborough and many in that area moved to either town for work etc.

Whittick shown is modern day Whitwick in Leics. That whole area was very famous for mining coal up until the late 1980's I think. The second w in Whitwick is not pronounced hence the misspelling! I'm full of this stuff lol

Here is another one,it shows Susanna Bonnett Leicester. Not overly helpful I know but it contains another Surname to go at! The distance between Northampton and Leicester does surprise me but who know's? Going back to Sarah Bonnett keep an eye out for stray marriages just over the COUNTY border from Leicestershire. That side of Leicestershire borders Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire.
