Peter Reitz, 43, Fur Dyer, born Germany. In the right hand margin are 3 letters. Has anyone any idea what they mean?

I think that it could be the enumerator's initials.

Looking back along the line, Peter's age has been overwritten, changing it from 45 to 43. Back when I was a Civil Servant, if we made any changes on official documents, we had to initial along side or at the end of the line to acknowledge that we had done so.

Thank you both. Jan, you're right. Looking back at the enumerator's part of that schedule these turn out to be his initials (and he does it a couple of more times in that Piece).

Thank you for looking as well Andrew - I shall keep that Latin tag in my locker as I'm sure it'll come in useful sometime.
