Yes, gamekeeper matches to Mira's death record and to the census information I have found for the family. I noticed that GRO only does Birth and Death information, not marriage. Any idea where I can get a copy of a marriage document for Thomas and Mary? They were married 23 February 1830 in Fownhope With Fawleye, Hereford, Herefordshire.

The GRO does Births, Marriages and Deaths, but this only started in 1837. Before that date they are usually BT's Bishops Transcripts. I have searched FMP, Ancestry and Familysearch but they only have transcripts. I can't find an image.

Thanks so much! Mmm.....if no image, is there another way? Is this where you hire someone to go find it in the church records?

Thanks Wendy - any idea on where to go next? I would love to find this record to see if it has any information about Thomas' parents.

Sometimes on a marriage before 1837 it was just entered as X married Y and the date.

Other times you get an entry like this.
    marriage.jpg

It is a very rare occurrence that the parents are named.

Sometimes the witnesses can have the same surname as the bride or groom. It doesn't necessarily mean it's a father or mother, but can be another avenue to take to maybe find out.

In 1851 he was also gamekeeper to W. Stubbs, Esq., and T. Lechmere Esq., both of Fownhope.

Gamekeepers, being Assessed Servants, at £1 7s. 6d. each.
DAVIES, Thomas, Fownhope, by Charles Fardell, Esq., for the Manor of Fownhope.

I see the wages were the same as 2 years previous.
