I've attached a partial family tree just to illustrate the potential "Uncle" relationship between James Frederick Meredith and the High Sherrif of Radnorshire, Edward Breeze. You'll need to open it then click on it and zoom to read it.

I have finally managed to access the England Parliamentary Papers through the National Library of Australia. This provides a good way to filter the search by keyword. After searching through nearly the results filtered by excise and meredith, totaling nearly 200 papers, unfortunately there appears to be no match for James Frederick Meredith's father John Meredith, who was allegedly at some stage employed as an excise officer.

Also on the tree post #61 how is Mary Ann a Davies (who married Edward Breeze) when all the other siblings are James? Or did I miss something?
