The "sticky" at the start of this forum says: "To find out all about these, click on Articles in the bar at the top of the page." Have I cracked? Where does it say "Articles"? Maybe I'll just ask my question: Is there a guide to the abbreviations used in the Electoral Rolls? Jane
I spend quite a bit of time with electoral registers and I wish you luck. I suppose the most important thing is to remember that the 'qualifying date' for the register is more important than the actual date of the register as it shows the people living in a place on a particular date - this can often be in the previous year. The qualifying date is usually printed on the first page of a register. Oh and remember that many women only appear after 1928. For the codes used, this is good: Code: http://www.electoralregisters.org.uk/codes.htm
...and while I'm here it's worth pointing out that earlier registers often have several sections for different categories of voter and so if you're looking for a particular person they may be listed at the expected address but only in, say, the "Lodgers" section of the register.
Thank you Flook. The link gave me the answers I was looking for - and you've given me more information on top. Many thanks. Jane
Scroll to the top of the page. Look at the "bar" immediately under the dog and tree. Second item from the left is Articles.
I cant find them either, even with Doug's instructions. They were taken down sometime in July 2016 and still missing as far as I can see. So if your have cracked, Jane then so have I.
Do you mean you are unable to see the word "Articles" in the bar or unable to see any articles when you have clicked on the word?
I can’t see the word at all......anywhere except in the post about it being discontinued......take a screen shot so I know where to go....
Thanks folks. It could be something to do with permissions - we can still see the title. There was a problem with having a separate link so, when I get a day or three, I will post the information as stickies in each forum.
Thank goodness from me too, I wandered around every part of the site yesterday trying to find the 'articles' .....
