WDYTYA Oz’s ‘notable’ last night’s numerous x great grandfather was, according to his baptism record, ‘conceived through anti nuptial fornication’. Considering the goings on of late and most definitely back then, casting the first stone was quite popular. What a horrible little man. I know we do laugh about these notes in columns but some are quite horrid by today’s standards. Sorry . Just venting.
I have also seen "byblow" and "whoreson" used in parish registers. Not at all pleasant in today's world but back in the day it was a different story.
Did it really say 'anti nuptial' and not 'ante nuptial'? At least, if the latter it would probably imply the father's name!
