This one seems to be a real challenge and I have not been up to it. It needs some Genealogy Specialist Geniuses (or Genii).

    I have this well-documented person:

    Myrtle Lindsay Davis
BIRTH JAN 1908, Dunedin, Otago, New Zealand; Reg. 1908/3888, Folio 1378
DEATH 23 JAN 1989 • Dunedin, Otago, New Zealand; Reg. 35958, aged 81 years as Mrs Murray

Then her endlessly elusive parents, James Davis and Elizabeth Lindsay: Marriage NZ BDM 1887/770 Elizabeth Lindsay James Davis.

According to several family trees of known relatives the approximate birth dates for them are Elizabeth 1869 and James 1865. But WHERE?

I have tried all the Elizabeth Lindsays and James Davises in both New Zealand and Australia and none fit- they either lived elsewhere all their lives, married other people or had the same names but different children.

A DNA Match with surname Thomson (parents Thomson and Murray), born NZ linking to me with surname Walker (mother Kable) may be in there somewhere. My linkable NZ and/or Scots surnames are Douglas, McGregor, Tod, Hibbert, Hancock, Simcox, Alcock, McKay, Wheat, Webster, Armstrong, Harris, Greensill, Bruce, Brickley.

Will start working on some Lancashire and Durham Lindsays but cannot stand another family of Davises!

Find a grave has Elizabeth’s mother as Mary Cook died 1911 but unknown birth.

He is their first-born and so could not provide data from a marriage or census entry later. Sad.

Yes thank you Neil94- I have combed all the papers for items on the various families I am chasing. No real luck, unfortunately.

I have been able to eliminate this James Davis, who also married an Elizabeth Lindsay, and ALSO, ended life in New Zealand:
    James Davis
BIRTH 8 DEC 1869 • Banwell, Somerset, England; Reg. Axbridge V5c p627; mother Bisgrove from GRO
DEATH 26 APR 1941 • Dunedin, Otago, New Zealand; Reg. 2105; Cemetery: Northern.
Some people with trees in various places think this guy is Myrtle's father.
