Good man!! I went through that after my accident and surgery on my quads and yes, it was a bit painful at times, but it was worth it. I even did another round with a TENS machine later and actually bought a small one! It's good for aches & pains all over. All the best!
Gotta love those Tens units I've not used mine for some time as I ran out of sticky gel, then the battery died & I got by with a newtoy.
Mine doesn’t need gel under the patches, Wendy...just moisten them...and it only needs a 9 volt battery! Cost $80 Canadian which is about on a par with your dollar! This is my second one.
Mine was c $100 in about 1896ish. worth every dollar but did need the gel to help patches stick. I've missed it butbought an 'Ultraleve Pro wand. A litte more magic but not for every little ache.
You are looking good for 120 years old......lol. Sorry, couldn't resist!! I rather suspect my goodlooking physio guy gave me a deal on the price. My accident was 9 years ago.
I think he did.. we have one ( bought in May) and it was a lot more than that. We did get several different sized patches with ours. Uses AA batteries.
After 3weeks C.B. I'm feeling better too but not quite that better You can get rechargable ones now I see for $35 & others - wireless etc for all different prices- I googled.
I had never heard of these TENS machines until now. We have a doc's appointment for Bill this morning and I'll definitely be talking to her about them. Sounds as though they could be a possible aid for Bill's combined sciatica and restless legs which have literally been throwing him half way across the room lately. Anything has to be worth trying!! Funny the things you learn from TD What have you been doing to yourself, Wendy? Hope you are OK. XX
The funny things are what keeps us coming back Philippa. Not self inflicted as far as know, just a totally unexpected & unwanted cold type virus Phillipa. I didn't like it at all. I'm not usd to such common ailments-since the last one. Not sure if yourDr. will recommmend a Tens unit for 'restless leg syndrome' may suggest mre a portable massage unit. They are no expensive & most come with a heating cycle. Pays to try it first tho' as I bought one way back abit later than the 1800s & it was rough as.
Hope your cold virus is one of the relatively short lived ones, Wendy. My sister and b-i-l in Queensland haven't been so lucky and have been only slowly recovering for many weeks now. Spoil yourself and keep warm and whatever else it takes. From what I hear it's no fun. xx Saw the doc yesterday but didn't get a chance to ask about the TENS thingy. She wants further investigation into both Bill's spine and his sciatic nerve so an ultra sound and a CT scan have to be booked. Hopefully he'll be well enough to have both done at the same time, but if he isn't, well so be it. We just do two trips to the imaging mob. Things have been pretty awful for him lately so let's hope something treatable shows up.
Philippa.....my husband had restless leg syndrome and he took a tranquilizer at bedtime which worked. He also had sciatica and I have had scoliosis since age 10....these conditions are handled with good chiropractic treatment....not a TENS machine. It is more for muscle pain. But beware the quacks in the chiropractic field!! We have been very lucky with our chiropractors for many decades! We just go when we need it. Good luck!
It's 3 weeks & counting now Phillipa but am on the home run I think/hope-is more like a long lsasting hang over now.My night life isn't helping much either. Poor Bill- so long now he's been a battler, yourself too, it's really hard when you can't do much to help them. Hugs to you both & I hope you get 'pretty pictures' which benefit.
Another couple of hugs from be too, one each for you and Bill. Finger's crossed that they find out what is causing Bill's problems and treat it quickly for him (and you). x
Good to see this really does seem like the quicker dissolving virus, Wendy. Sister Geraldine was still feeling - shall we say poorly? - at week 8 and counting. As I said before, do whatever is necessary for your comfort and recovery (within the allowed boundaries of course). This last thing of Bill's has been going on now for at least 15 years and I'm damned if I know how he copes with it. Drives me up the flippin' wall I can tell you so how he must feel........... The last couple of weeks have been horrendous and the pain he's had and the violence of the restless legs have been so hard to watch. I know that if there'd been a high cliff at our front door he would have loved to just fall over it, and to be honest I would not have stood in his way. At the moment he's on endone for the pain and it's made a massive difference. Thankfully he's sensible in spite of everything and is only going to take it when absolutely necessary. He's also on lyrica for the nerve pain and the combination has allowed a more normal him to emerge. Tomorrow I'll talk to him about the imagine appointments. He wanted a day or two after the doc's appointment to gather himself together but of course I'm getting impatient and want results NOW. I've been good so far, but I don't think I can hold off any longer than tomorrow. You really do learn interesting stuff when there's a medical oddity going on. Bill's sciatic nerve was damaged about 40 years ago by an army medic with a gamma globulin injection. Apparently it's possible for that long ago damage to decide to turn around and bite him which is why the sciatic tests. The body is really a strange and wondrous beast. To add interest to the soup of his problems we are now seeing a slowly developing mental degeneration which don't help none at all. God love him, he's still almost as even natured as he was when he was "well". Me? Well I'd rather not comment on that. Let's just say that patience has never been my long suit and I'm coping accordingly!! OK dinner time, so had best go and do. Take care. Thank you to everyone for your kind thoughts and messages. Love you all to bits.
Sorry Derek. I honestly, really and truly had no intention of trying to steal any of your thunder - just seemed to happen, I guess. I hope your exercises become easier and less painful really quickly and that everything returns to normal in time for your Bali escape. Look after yourself. XX
Oh dear, I hope he hasn't been one of the unfortunates who bought 'Endone' at 4times the strength. !! Makes it near impossible to obtain now for those who need it. I remember it after surgery umpteen years ago, was lovely until I asked to stop taking it so I could come away from the 'fog'.
Oh God he needed it, Wendy, and just how much we are both only starting to wake up to having seen the difference between before taking and after. This script was only for something like 12 or maybe 20 with no repeats, but he will certainly have quite a few left over by the time we see the doc after the photos are taken. I had the same thing when I threw a disc only a few months ago and it was really nice!! Thankfully by the time I was done the pain had settled so it worked out well. I think this is only "normal strength" not super-duper so there is little or no chance of his becoming a slave to the drug. It would make life so much easier if he could take normal tranquilizers but they have no effect at all, in fact some even make the condition worse so they are a lost cause. Hi de ho. What is life without a challenge?
