Hear hear And who do you think was ahead of them, looking up the suicide in the paper while I was watching........
Someone else who tries to get ahead of the game. I think we all speed-read the Wills, certificates and personal letters before they change camera shot.
Agree it was a very good episode and I like the fact he was quite pragmatic about their fates and acknowledged that c**p happens but they were loved and missed. Cant wait for next week
Who Do You Think You Are? returns this evening in a show first, where father-and-son duo Michael and Jack Whitehall will uncover links to the Chartist movement.
I really enjoyed last nights' episode. Jack said about his ancestor exactly what he though of him. He summed it up well with "There he is, our ancestor, laid to rest, above the toilet." Well it made me laugh. Like my tag-line says "Genealogy doesn't have to be all dark rooms and dusty volumes. No hobby is fun without a laugh along the way. "
Funny you should say that Terry, I remembered your tag-line while I was watching I really enjoyed the episode as well
“Not because you’re Welsh, but because all your ancestors were wrong ’uns.” Yes, that's me - too. Found it a really watchable episode. As well as being quite funny in parts, I discovered a few things - a school for children of commercial travellers, for instance. I hadn't appreciated the risks faced by commercial travellers as they went about their business ('like Avon ladies').
And it is still in Pinner and I had never heard of it, nor do I know where it is (I visit my cousin in Pinner every week!!) Edit - having found it on google, I do know where it is (most of it is now a under a supermarket!!).
I ordered a couple of certificates yesterday and their dispatch date was given as 13th August - less than a week away. Usually when there is a new series of WDYTYA showing, it is much longer than that!
Finally got round to watching the Whitehall episode last night- good to be laughing out loud rather than getting tearful! And I was in Monmouth yesterday and Newport last Sunday- interesting to see my local area. I think they should have him back to do his mum's side.
Thought they would have found a Will for 'REB' to see where all the money went! I was surprised that REB inherited the money when he was 60
