I've always considered it's worth complaining, there's nothing to lose and at least you can have some satisfaction in having given the offending party a piece of your mind.
FWIW!! I decided to play with the link and put the US ending in (.com) and then the Canadian (.ca). IT IS THE SAME 50% DISCOUNT FOR EACH COUNTRY!!! Sonofagun!! Still more than I want to spend up front though. Normally it is $300 Cdn. for World.......this one says $150! Same page, same layout, etc. I am going to bookmark that and muse on it. Perhaps try a free month or whatever and decide. On second thought, nah, but will keep it anyway. Interesting!! Thank you whoever found that!!
I'd have to give it from Santa!! Other half doesn't know how to even turn a computer on, lol. Bought myself an iPad for Xmas and going slightly bonkers setting it up...with no instructions. Will phone Apple I guess! Seems pretty "nifty". :green-biggrin: And I am not good at reading online manuals...no patience!! So that took all my spare cash!
So the years sub that I bought on 13 September 2018 is due to run out and Ancestry very kindly once again expect me to pay £179.99, but hey the discount link still works and so I will become somebody else again and join for £89.99.
I did exactly the same in June, waited one day after cancelling and bought the new sub at half price, same name etc. they even filled in the payment details for me
Must keep all this in mind for when my sub needs renewing, be my luck that there will be no offer at that time.
The same offer is still online at www. ancestry.co.uk/cs/offers/subscribe?dna=crossAct I believe that as Figgs said in post #42 that if you play around with the address and substitute .com.au (for Australia) or .com or .ca in place of .co.uk then you will get the same offer from the country that the prefix belongs to.
Yep.......I just substituted *.ca for the UK extension and got both Canada and World for $60 and $150 respectively which is 50% off. However, I would need the World to cover the West Indies, England, Scotland and Spain and not about to pay that. I might take one month...one day. But I inherited the Scottish frugality and due to how little I would have to find, it isn't worth it to ME.......others might feel differently. I am also one of those odd birds who totally refuse to get my DNA done........ I know who I am and who I descend from back to the 1500's on one side and 1700's on the other. But Ron's might be rather interesting cuz he is about 0.05% mixed. Freed slaves back in the early 1800's and from there on it was all white. Willing to bet there are others on here who don't know that they are!! (mischievous grin).
I let my subscription lapse then the very next day subscribe as a new customer at the half price rate. Haven't paid the full amount for the last eight years!
@Sis it was @dizzyme who helped me find the cheaper 'option'. I use the same details every time, just cancel my sub in the time frame. Once the date is past, find the deal and rejoin. Anc recognises me, as it auto fills in all my info, including card details, and pay I the lower sum.
