Yes, checked mum and dad's are there in 2013. Last time I looked my cousin who passed away this year wasn't there though - maybe it's a bit too soon - August. Will have another look.

Still not there, but there were some of the same surname in Q2, so maybe that's as far as they have got at the moment.

Only year of birth also, not any date of births.

I have just noticed there are two entries for my Uncle who died in 2018. One under his birth name Frederick Donald and one under the name he was known as, Don. That could be confusing.

I wonder why some of them have the 'Quarter' missing.

Just went to check a death that I know took place in 1980 and in the drop down list of the year there's a gap between 1957 and 1984??????

Are they the same registration number?
Sometimes NSWBDM are listed as the same number but various spellings of names.

I've just been doing some research for a lady who says she was actually born a 'Davies' but her birth certificate says 'Jones'. I found her birth registered twice in the same quarter with the same Vol. and Page No. It was because she was born illegitimate and her parents married just after her birth, then re-registered her birth in their married name.

Yes, both entries have the same number. I remember the Registrar asking if he was known by any other name, so I told her he was k/a Don and that is on his death certificate.

I've also noticed the ones I looked at just have the County, not a Registration District.

I noticed that. Could make life a bit difficult if you want to order. Can't order a PDF either.

Registration districts keep increasing. Weymouth expanded and expanded until it was South &West Dorset, now I think it's just Dorset. I guess in keeping with new methods of storage and retrieval

Also stopped Quarters and went monthly relatively recently :(

Thanks @Sis - I have finally found my dad's younger brother, I have been looking for his death reg. for a long time, and it never showed on the sites that claimed to have entries after 2000

Mine was a sad find. Not family history related - a young (troubled) man that we'd lost touch with a year ago. I'd heard a rumour that he'd been found dead this year but there was nothing in the local papers. Seeing this thread I'd gone straight to the GRO index and unfortunately found his details.

It wasn't nice telling our circle of friends but now at least we know - and the lad is free from his demons.

Sorry, I've really put the dampers on things. :( But, thanks, Sis. Let's move on.

Not at all, if you feel comfortable sharing with the members of the forum then we must be doing something right.

My uncle was officially 'George' but always known as 'Joe' (very early in his life he spelled it 'Geo'). His death registration is listed under both forenames.
