I have just found mention of a John Mitchell, Liverpool - 'Lancashire Wills & Probate 1457-1858' on FMP. Two dates for same named person 1790 & 1806 . Date 22 Feb 1790 Occupation Mariner Place The Ship Fancy Liverpool Archdeaconry Chester County Cheshire, Lancashire, with a document ordering link, which left me none the wiser. Either of these person may be the 3rd Gt.G'Father I'm trying to 'approve of'. The first may lead to the correctness of a burial I have found for his possible widow in 1813. Can anyone please advise me on how to go about obtaining the first of these probate documents although I despair of it having any useful info. More likely I am to find info of deceased husband on widow's death but that again was before civil registration so probably no help. Slowly changing my mind as my chap's last child was born in 1797. So the way to go may be..... 27 Jun 1806 Occupation Mariner Place Liverpool Archdeaconry Chester Archive reference 631B/86 Any help truly appreciated. not sure if this is real as the avatar is showing me as 'OFFLINE"
Try here @Ma-dotcom (I think I have filled in the page and it should display with his record and a way of ordering a copy) https://archivecat.lancashire.gov.uk/calmview/Record.aspx?src=CalmView.Catalog&id=W/CW/Supra/C631B/86&pos=2
Thank you so much Chimp, same again I get so far then no knowledge of such or words to that effect. I think they can just keep it. I see his name etc, but the next step dissolves into ' nah, don't 'ave that ere'.
It seems I work better when wide awake. thanks Chimp. today all went through so easily.I shall be informed by email of cost then should receive copies my land mail with in a few days. I was quite prepare to cash out right a way but better safe than sorry with money matters.
It appears the charge has increased by about £3.50 which isn't too bad. I now have thier email & am about toorder document, hoping to see something of use. Thanks again Chimp.
Today's mail would have brought a lovely Christmas present if it had been the chap I wanted. Three pages of info. on the probate of John Mitchell from the ship "Margaret" of Liverpool which it mentions was grante to Margaret 'lookey' having been surrendered & decreed null & void. Lot's still to read but it seems ELizabeth the wife was from Leif The small & faded print got me in I guess. Thing is I wan't even positive that he was the man I needed,- maybe I was wrong & this really is my rellie who left his widow 'Elizabeth'. was hoping for Rachel. One day I will discover the truth on who is my 3rd Gt. G'daddy.
