... but not all for the same person ;)

Thirza EDMON(D)S was born about 1834 to parents William and Martha in St Peter’s Parish, St Albans, Hertfordshire.

She appears with her parents in 1841 (438/16/15/2) and her widowed father in 1851 (1713/340/24).

I have not been able to find the following:
    • Thirza’s baptism
    • William and Martha’s marriage
    • Martha’s death.
    :(

I would be grateful if anyone is able to shed light on the missing dates. :)

    Thank you.

I can't find a remotely possible birth for Thirza (with all its possible variant spellings) nor a death for Martha. Have had my usual look in the papers, but no clues there either :(

Thank you so much for looking. I think that they will remain a mystery. :headbang:

I too, tried with no luck either. Have you found anything else on the sister (I did look for a baptism for her too) - Malaah, from the 1841 census?

I looked too. I found Mahala's baptism, but nothing after that. There does seem to be a gap between Mahala and Thirza (6 years?). Perhaps she was taken in by them.

There's a fairly comprehensive tree on Ancestry for this family. It doesn't have a baptism for Thirza, nor a death for Martha.

There is also a baptism for a son James at North Mimms, which is where daughter Mahala was baptised, on 13 November 1825, William shown as a Labourer from St Peters, but I have looked through the register for North Mimms from 1832-1835 and couldn't find any other baptisms there for children to William & Martha. There are a couple of earlier baptisms at North Mimms, Rachel baptised 5 October 1817, William shown as of North Mimms & George on 3 September 1820, William shown as of Colney Heath. Can't find anything at all for Thirza though. Rachel EDMONDS is buried at North Mimms on 18 February 1818, aged 6 months (Hertfordshire Burial Index). There is a burial on FreeReg at St Albans on 18 April 1821 for a George EDMUNDS aged 8 months.

No luck with the burial for Martha either. I wondered if she could perhaps be visiting one of her children and thus died there but Mahala marries a Charles GRAY in 1849 and they are both in the 1851 census of North Mimms and I cannot find a likely death/burial record for Martha in Hertfordshire.

Sorry, I probably haven't been much use, as you may already have the above information anyway.

    Janet
