I am wondering if that is Stanley Junior - b 1923. There is a death for a Stanley Alexander CARRETTE registered in 1986 (dob 5th June 1923) over in Epping RD. Epping to Forest Gate is only about 10 miles - and if he had decided to retire to the country... ;)

Yes that is the son, although he was born 1924 according to his first birth registration.

Oo-er! There is a Probate record for a Gladys Eva CARRETTE that has her dying 16th March 2014  Probate was Brighton 24th July 2014.

Could there be 2 of them???

Well, the GRO has just the one death registered for Gladys - 2014 in West Sussex.

I am wondering if the mention on Find a Grave is eiher a memorial mention on someone elses grave or perhaps her ashes were interred there then.

Find a Grave mentions that the death date could be the interment date. :)

There cannot be two of them - you don't get many Carrette's to the lb (sorry!).

Getting the will seems to be the way to go.

Loughton Cemetery records have been digitised by the town council and are on-line
    Code:
    http://www.loughton-tc.gov.uk/Cemetery_2587.aspx
and scroll to the bottom of the page.
You can view the image of the page with each entry on BUT although I can find the burial entry in the index, I can't get the site to bring up the image :sceptical: It is certainly working as I searched for any burial in 2014 and was able to bring up an image at random, but no such luck with 2015. Perhaps someone else might like to try......

The will has been ordered, I will let you know when it arrives.

Stanley Alexander b1901 still remains in hiding though.

Sadly, there are folk who disappeared in the war - or even when there was no war. He might have changed his name, become homeless, moved away... the possibilities are endless. :(

I was looking to see if his father left a will that might indicate if he knew where his son was, but cannot see one. :(

It certainly looks that way, perhaps estranged from his family, he became one of the unidentified war dead.
