I am not sure where to put this post.
Last seen in 1891 with his mother Mary A at Barncoose Terrace .Illogan,Cornwall.
There is Joseph Southy Hancock from Illogan Highway in 1898 travelling to Western Australia from Illogan Highway with a number of other men from Illogan Highway.
Although Joseph is illegitimate as is his sister Mary Ellen. Mary Ellen has the middle name Southy.
Unforunately there is also a Joseph Hancock age 39 going to Michigan,USA in 1906. He is living at Pool.
I have no idea if they are the person that I am looking for.
Pool,Illogan and Barncoose Terrace are neighbouring areas.

So Joseph S Hancock sailed to Western Australia and then changed his mind and sailed to the USA a few years later?
FMP newspaper has the details of the Australia trip and Cornwallopc the deatils of the USA trip.
Is there anyway of finding Joseph S Hancock returning to the UK?

Joseph Hancock born 1869 and not 1868.
Both Redruth district and mothers are Hancock.
It is possible that the 1869 Joseph died in 1869 age 0.
So that leaves Joseph Southey Hanock.
Is it possible that Joseph Southey Hancock's mother added the father's name?
If so ,where is the Southey family?

Mary Ann worked in a mine.
I found Joseph Southey an infant death in 1865 and his father was Joseph Southey living at Pool.
Mary Ann was living at Pool in 1861.

Does it show his full name in the newspaper. A Joseph S Hancock arrived in
Albany on the RMS Ormuz 25/2/1898. He could have then travelled overland to other destinations. Unfortunately our National Archives are down so I can’t follow any other information for now.

The newspaper had his full name.
I looked at the passenger list and Joseph was a passenger in 1906 departing Southampton and going to the US and he was meeting a friend named Robert P Mills. So ,he returned to the UK from Australia at some point.
Looking at the census for Robert P Mills I found him living in the same area in 1881 and 1891 as Joseph in Cornwall.
