    Hi all,
I'm interested in finding out history and records for the 85th Regiment of Foot (Buck's Volunteer) for the years 1835-1850 or so. My 5th Great Grandfather listed his profession on the birth record of his eldest child as a private in the 85th regiment. He was living in Tynemouth Northumberland at the time of his sons birth, and it so happens that the family seems to make their way to Canada by 1861. I also found the regiment mentioned in passing during some reading of Canadian history, but nothing about specific locations or troops.
If anyone has any wisdom they can share with me, or suggestions on where I can take my research further i would really appreciate it!
