I have found a newspaper clipping on FamilySearch for a boy child born in 1935 to Walter H Scott & his wife Henrietta Crampton.

I have looked at the Canada births but cannot find it listed.

To be honest I didn't expect to find any children as Walter didn't marry till he was 43 & Henrietta was 21, I would love to know the little boy's name & if he survived.
They lived at the time in O'Brian Bay which I think is on Vancouver Island, British Columbia

Any ideas for searching further :)

Hello Dogsday..
Actually O'Brian Bay is on the Sunshine Coast of BC. Only accessible by water, but on the mainland. It is north of Vancouver.
A birth for 1935 would not be open to view...BC has very strong privacy laws. Deaths are a little easier to find and I have searched for a Walter Scott's death and the only one with a wife Henrietta, her maiden name was Thorp. I could not find any baby Scott deaths, which would have been recorded. When I looked at the marriage of Walter and Henrietta it said he was 47, a widower, and a grocer and said Henrietta was a spinster when they married and was 38. Not much help, I know, but if you don't have a death for him and could give me a bit more information i will do some more digging.

I cannot find him at all even with that information on the BC deaths index on the Archives website. I usually have good luck with it. Is the Family Search info user submitted?

Thank you, you have all been working hard, the census for Henrietta will be correct for 1911, I know her father was Philip & mother Edith, I have a copy of the Registration of Marriage, Walter was a Woodsman, batchelor age 43 & Henrietta a schoolteacher, spinster age 21, the certificate is stamped Nanaimo B.C. 1930
The little boy was born October 1935, the birth was announced in the
Victoria Times Canada 1935, see image, but I didn't know there was a little girl as well.
I knew Walter died in 1968 but not Henrietta's death, I shall take a look at FindaGrave
thanks again, more digging required I think

No need to split it if you are using the code. Put
at the beginning of the link - but without the space - and
at the end - again, without the space.

If you are not using the code and just want to split the url, click on the return key after www. to bring the rest to the next line. That should work okay. :)

You're welcome.:)

This is the main search page for the British Colonist and the countless
other names it went by 1858-1970. The search engine is dodgy, it
didn't pick up Walter's obit, I had to use the browse by feature.

There are a couple of photos of the Crampton family, try using
"Philip Crampton" with your fingers crossed.:)

Even I seem to be having trouble finding anything. Sorry to be late in joining in the conversation, haven't been feeling good..

BC Archives may be in the process of uploading the latest data, as I'm getting an error:
Sorry, an error occurred while processing your request.

Shady Creek is an area on East Saanich Road in Saanich, part of Victoria. Originally settled by black immigrants from the USA. Pretty area - shady - with a really nice little church.

I'll have a look later and see if I can "break in".

Hi Wendy..

I hope you soon feel better and can enjoy that nice weather you are having out there!

Yes, I got that message as well a few times... I did find the death of Walter after @Dogsday and @demeler had found some information. I used W H not his name and since they had the correct date. Can't find a death for a baby girl, though and you would think the obit would have said predeceased by infant daughter also.

I've been looking for some of my relatives as well and getting that message too...even for some that I just want to print the copy of the reg. for as I already know the dates!

Guess we have to wait!

I guess I found a spot and was able to search 1935 deaths. Searched for last name Scott 1935-1935, either gender and nothing. Also searched for Scatt, Scett, Scitt, Scutt. Unfortunately, they are VERY prescise on the last name spelling, depending on how the transcriber viewed the name. Will see what else I can think of.
