A male Housekeeper?

    This is a new one to me. An entry in Biddenden, Kent burials
    18th November W. William Day, Housekeeper.

    Further up the page is another male housekeeper.

    Has anyone come accross this before? I cant think it means he owns a house. Perplexed.

    Oh and the vicar in that parish needed a slap, none of the wives are given a name, just wife of.... Not that Im looking for anyone specific.

    I was wondering if it was Horsekeeper, but the various entries certainly look like Housekeeper.
