Ann was born about 1799 in Newick, Sussex according to the 1851 and 1861 censuses.

She married William MARCHANT on 29th August 1827 in Wivelsfield, Sussex and lived in Alfriston until her death on 4th July 1866. Her burial took place at St Andrew's, Alfriston on 16th July, where she was buried with her husband who had died in 1849 and their son William who had died in 1860.

However, I am unable to find her baptism in order to establish who her parents were.

    All help gratefully received. :)

Sussex FHG list a Baptism at Newick -
    1797 May 2 GOSLING Ann d John & Ann
also Sophia their daughter 1799 May 3.
Then the next is for 1810 also of John & Ann
So maybe they wandered between nonconformity
or they moved elsewhere for a while.

There is only one marriage for a John and Ann anywhere near
the period you want, and it is at Newick!
1786 Feb 27 John GOSLING bach otp & Ann STANDEN spin otp banns
Strangely there is a John Standen b otp & Ann Gosling sp otp banns
there 1791 Aug 7 as well!
In case you do not have it, the ML shows William Marchant bach of
Alfriston,21+ & Ann Gosling spin of Wivelsfield 21+.
Sophia marries at Wivelsfield in 1830.
A John marries at Newick 1818, a yeoman, with a license, maybe
a son? If you want fuller details, just say.
