I have always had a little problem with this side of the family, as they seem to hop over the border from Essex to Hertfordshire. I have even arrived at the wrong record office believing I knew what I was doing!
My Ann Monk was born c1817 in Manuden, after she married my Great great grandfather George Clements in Heydon, Essex I have her well placed. Maybe there have been some boundary changes as well. However this and my very poor geography doesn't help things.
My question is if Ann Monk was born in Manuden, can anyone help me work out the nearby parishes. I am looking for a baptism for her to try and work out who her parents might be.
I see a lot of trees have given Ann's parents as Sarah King and Thomas Monk but I have never seen any evidence for this. Any helpful suggestions.
    With thanks Elizabeth

If Ann married George in Heydon, could she be the Ann MONK who was baptised in Heydon on 9th June 1816 to Sarah and Joseph? Manuden to Heydon is only 5 miles.

Thanks Jan anything is possible and worth considering. I used to remember how to look at Essex online records but I think I must be loosing my skill. Ann Monk consistently gives Manuden as her place of birth but as you say it is nearby. I am no good at geography but I remember many years ago visiting the area and being mesmerised by the beauty of the area, not that helps me much now.

Another thought - are naming patterns followed for Ann and George's children? Any Josephs or Sarahs amongst them?

By the way, Family Search has a map of parishes from 1851. Click on the link within this page and you can choose counties, parishes etc.
