I don't have a sub at the moment, could someone please look up a newspaper article in the Leicester post 6th Sept 1913 about the death of young Anthony.
A very sad tale The death of Anthony Reibaldi, the three year old son of Juan Reibaldi a stone mason's labourer, of 53, Abbey-street, who died at the Royal Infirmary on Thursday, following scalds sustained on August 16, was inquired into at the institution yesterday afternoon by Borough Coroner. Dr S. H. Wilkinson said when the deceased was brought to the institution on August 16 he was suffering from extensive scalds to the back and left leg. He got on all right for a while, but later developed pneumonia, and died on Thursday. Florence Riebaldi (sic) stated that on the morning of August 16 the child went into a neighbour's house to play with some companions, as was his habit. He had not been in the house very long, before he was brought home suffering from scalds. She applied oils to his injuries, but as these did not seem to appease his pain he was later removed to the Royal Infirmary. Chrissie Altobello, aged 14, who resides with her parents at 49, Abbey-street said the deceased frequently visited the house to play with her young brother. On this particular morning her mother put a zinc utensil containing water on the fire. Witness later took it off the fire, and placed it underneath a cupboard and close by a chair. Whilst preparing some food she gave the deceased something to eat. After receiving this he commenced to walk backwards, evidently with the intention of sitting down in the chair. Instead of doing this, however, he struck the bucket, and fell into it, and the contents splashed about him. The jury returned a verdict of accidental death.
Thank you so much for that Ann, what a terrible sad story, a new contact from the family said Anthony died from falling into a vat of boiling ice cream, father Juan was an ice cream vendor in the summer months.
