I don't know how I've missed this before but there is a splendid interactive version of these maps all in one place at the address below. Not to be missed is the 'blob' slider in the middle of the bottom of the map which reveals the modern Google map of the equivalent area. The facility to zoom in on any area of the map is (I hate to say this!) amazing. You can see the map at> http://booth.lse. ac.uk/map/16/-0.1113/51.5136/87/0 I stand to be corrected if it is in fact later, but the basic map appears to be the same as Stanford's 1878 Geological Library Map of London And Its Suburbs** with parish boundary overlays being updated to at least 1884 (e.g. Holy Trinity, Lincoln's Inn Fields, was apparently only made a separate parish in 1884). ** http://london1878. com/stanford15.htm This is more up to date than Stanford's 1872 map.
The Booth Poverty Map along with the notebooks have long fascinated me, but I haven't visited the site for some time, so I hadn't seen the 'blob' slider - thanks for that Flook.
I have used the notebooks wayback found a rellie amongst the poor souls but like Ann not seen the blob slider ......something else to play with
