I've dealt with Anna Maria Brewer elsewhere; now I want to discuss her older siblings who are confusing me ...

    1841 census in Chard [HO107; 949; Book 3; 11; 14]

Thomas BREWER 25 Saw Hand? (not sure it's S, looks more L )
    Louisa 25
    James 2
    Ann 2
    Sarah 2 months

    I have found baptisms:
    James 6 Jul 1834
    Ann Elizabeth 27 Jan 1839
    Sarah Eliza 11 Apr

I assumed the first James died and then another was born, but I cannot find a birth reg. for the second one if so, but then that is inconclusive because I can't find Ann Elizabeth's either

I am wondering however if the enumerator mistook a 7 for a 2 when writing up his book ...

That is perfectly feasible. Have you found him in 1851 to check this out? The rest of the family can be found at HO 107, Piece 1928, folio 95, page 42

there's the rub ... I can find everyone else  but not him

I have just stumbled across an 1881 census of a James born in Somerset, but the age is 10 years out; wife Ann from Monmouthshire; one of the children is a Louisa -- feel like I am clutching at straws here ... also there are two possible deaths in Chard before the 1851

Is James the one buried in Chard in 1842 aged 8 years?

If so I would go with your hunch that it was a mistaken 7. Otherwise James and Ann would have been twins, both aged 2.

Is Ann Elizabeth the one buried in Chard in 1852 aged 13 years?

Yes! that's Ann Elizabeth, their next child was Elizabeth Ann :D in honour I suppose

Are you going to slap my wrist for forgetting to look on FamilySearch? I am assuming that is how you know how old he was?

If I'm looking for someone else I go to Freereg. If I'm looking for myself I forget all about it

Thank goodness I'm not the only dope  I often 'forget' to look in all the obvious places for myself.

When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with cries of "Me, Too" be sure to cherish them because those weirdo's are your tribe :D
