I'm trying to find how Frank Brooke came to have this pub in 1901. So I'm trying to find who was in charge of this pub in 1891. I know in 1901 it was run by Frank Brooke, and in 1881 by Mary Ann Bevis, and I know it was neither of them in 1891. Kelly's says Thomas Savory had it in 1898, but I don't know any more about him I've tried and failed to find Swanmore in the census in that year to look for it. Would anyone be able to find it?
In 1891 this would appear to be the Bricklayers Arms RG12/943/66/4 Swanmore, Droxford Bps [Bishops] Waltham Road Bricklayers Arms George Homer, a builder, and family
Now known as The Brickmakers at SO32 2PA and see here when it was the Bricklayers Arms... https://www. francisfrith.com/swanmore/swanmore-the-bricklayers-arms-1969_s424020
It might be worth a telephone call to the Hampshire Archives Office to see if they have the Licence applications from the time. If they have, it should provide the date of when Frank became the licencee.
Thanks everyone. The mystery deepens, that name in 1891 doesn't look familiar as I was hoping. Asking Hampshire archives is a good idea
