can it be read or is it too far gone ?
THe 'In loving memory of' is mostly readable but too easy to 'input' other words which may be wrong.
Irfanview may be a help here
IN LOVING MEMORY OF
OUR DEAR PARENTS
SARAH JANE DUNN

AGED 72 YEARS
AND JOHN NEEDHAM DUNN
DIED FEB 24TH 1934

Wow. I must get glasses like yours.....
I got the John N...Dunn
I found it on the internet (there were clues in the name of the file - Dunn grave mappleton ) and saved it to my computer, then played around with brightness, etc. then looked at the screen through one of those jewellers magnifier thingamibobs.
Just played around a bit more - should be
ALSO JOHN NEEDHAM DUNN
Altered it for easier reading.
Can you please tell how you got the writing so clear?
To be honest, it was probably just luck. The one I found on the internet was quite good, but was sideways on. I have a programme on my computer called Microsoft Office Picture Manager which I love as you can do all sorts of things with it. First of all I rotated the photo, then clicked on the Autocorrect button, then I just played around with the contrast, brightness and midtone settings until it was more readable. I then cropped the photo and saved it.
I think enlarging it also helped.
I also thought I had "our Dear Parents' also 'John N
eedham Dunn'. but had to leave. Well done Annie
Your photo is great, a right click to view on new window & then + to enlarge it.
Lots easier than making the trek to the cemetery and throwing water on the stone. As is my trick...
You wonderful people, thank you for all your efforts, it is who I hoped it would be.
I don't know if you all do as I do, if I haven't got a photo of a person, I try to find a picture of something else I can add to their details maybe the church they were married in etc, if nothing else I look for an MI.
Onwards & Upwards or maybe Downwards
I also look for houses on Streetview and take a snip
I take it Hannah Evelyn (sic) Goforth was Hannah Eviline Dunn, John and Sarah's daughter. She having married Ernest Goforth in 1931.
That's right Chimpy, John & Sarah had 4 daughters, Hannah Eveline being the youngest b.1900. I know John was a farmer but I didn't know there was a Will, so thank you for that. Hannah & Ernest had 2 children Maurice & Vera
