Looking for Jane Jaques (nee Woolf) in the 1851 and 1861 census. In the 1841 census she is with her four children in Shoreditch, it gives her age as 45 and that she wasn't born in the county. HO107, Piece 705, Book 1, Folio 46, Page 16. She was admitted to Grove House Lunatic Asylum, Bow in 1869, where she died in 1870. The age on her burial record is 78. Wouldn't you know it the only two places I found her after her children's baptism's are the least likely to have her age correct. The newspaper articles that Annb very kindly found has her husband, William, in India in 1854, from her daughter's death notice and 1870 from Jane's death notice.

I was just in the middle of writing the very same thing... But to add - it says Jane was born in Hertfordshire - Barkway?

Barkway is a village in NE Herts, north of Buntingford and south of Royston. :)

Thank you Ann and everyone. Interesting that both census say she is married, but I can't find William, maybe he stayed in India. Never mind he may be a post for another day.:)
