This marriage appeared in the paper. Reading Standard 24 April 1909 I can't find a registration for the marriage.
Just to add to this. On the early electoral registers, before women got the vote, David was living at The Park Cottage, Tilehurst. Lilian died at Park Cottage in 1919 Lilian Nisbett Age - 38 Birth year - 1881 Residence - Park Cottage Burial date - 23 May 1919, St Michael, Tilehurst, Berkshire
It seems David died in 1930 age 63 in Reading, so he was little older that Lillian, but what is very strange is that on Freebmd on the same page Marriage Dec 1894 Marylebone 1a 1173 is a Julia Gooch and a David Nisbett then on the same page in 1898 in Paddington 1a 87 is Julia Gooch and David Nisbett.
Hmmmm.....and a Julia Nisbett died in Pontypridd March 1929 age 59 (1870). I wonder if there is no registration because it wasnt a legal marriage.
The 1911 census has a 44 year old David Nesbeth (FMP) or Nesbett (Anc) - but it could well be Nisbett - living at Park Cottage, Tilehurst, Berkshire. He is a Valet to a Gentleman Farmer by the name of H B Blagrave. It looks as though it say he has been married 20 years, though it could be 2 - and has had 1 child. All other's, apart from a visitor, appear to be servants. No sign of Lilian though. Could this be your David?

Was just thinking the same thing. Someone got cold feet at the last minute, too late to hold the presses.
I believe she is. She later married Cyril Edward Ambrose DERRY on 26 Sep 1931 at Reading. I found his RAF papers which gave the date of the marriage and her name followed by (W) which I took to be as "widow".

I think the Scottish David Nisbett is a totally different person. I've been able to follow the 'Valet' David back to his birth. Yes. I just came across it when looking for David Nisbett and had a chuckle at Little Wee Willie so had to include it here. Poor Wee Willie. I hope he isn't offended.
