Wow - thank you AM and Lizzie, you have found them for me and as a bonus solved what happened to Samuel Frederick Slatter Louisa [Wood] Slatter gave one of her daughter's the name Matilda and in turn a granddaughter (my nan) was called it too. The name was then passed on to my mum - who loathed it, so luckily I did not get it too Get well soon Lizzie
Nothing whatsoever to do with your query (but not really off piste) but I had a rummage in the papers looking for Matilda Woods and discovered that Marie Lloyd, the music hall artist, was actually named Matilda Alice Victoria Wood. She was born in Hoxton on the 12th February 1870.
